The MDT Hunt Brake was built to tame recoil on the lightest precision rifles. At just 1.7 oz, this ultra-light, self-timing muzzle brake delivers significant recoil reduction with precision-tuned ports.

.308 Winchester is listed under magnum, but then in the compatibility list .308 is separated with .300WM and .300WSM in a green box. Am I wanting the standard brake instead?

I think the point of the calibre in the box is that either brake will work for you. Unless you're planning to use the brake on other rifles of larger calibres , you should be fine with the standard version

Looks like there are actually only two brakes, the standard good up to 30 cal and the magnum up to 338, and with any smaller calibre you get increasing clearance. Maybe with the magnum brake on a 308 you don't have to clean it as often?

Also looks not-recommended for 22 Creed or anything small, and not available in 1/2-28 although there are adaptors around. Less recoil with most smaller calibres, although the boomer-through-a-small-bore calibres do exist. You would be getting a lot of room around your trajectory with a 30-cal brake.

The way I read it, the Magnum and Standard have differing port angles. The Standard is designed for smaller cartridges and is geared towards reducing muzzle rise, whereas the Magnum is recommended for longer cartridges and somehow differently tuned to specifically reduce barrel whip. It appears as though there are only the two bore diameters, .300 and .338.

The cartridges in the middle of the range....308, .300WIN, etc...can be used with either version.

You've gotta read all the ad copy and watch all the videos to even glean than much info. I love the ultralight weight, and the reduced muzzle jump with the standard model sounds great. Since they never mention it, I am assuming that this will be one crazy-loud brake, and that alone will steer me away. I'm not recoil-sensitive, but there are lots of braked guns with such an increased level of muzzle blast experienced by the shooter that it completely negates any other possible benefits of the brake IMHO.
