I like the sheer size and emptiness of people of the outback. It reminds me of home. Once you get past the different accents, phrases, driving on the wrong side of the road and vegemite the Aussies are very much like us. The amount of people who have helped me for no reason other than shared hunting enthusiasm is staggering.

Sounds great. I've never seen the desert, it must be really something.

I doubt you would have experienced the same attitudes a more urban area. I'm in my states' capital city at the moment and the general attitude of people is quite different to those in rural areas, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Its hard to say. A couple that were originally from Sydney that we had never seen before invited my wife and I to their home, fed us, and took us out to see how the locals do things and a station owner who didn't know us from Adam passed over the keys to a brand new ute to go 4 wheeling at night with a couple of crazy Canucks. I want so badly to give him full credit here, but feel that if he wants that public he can make it so himself. They took time off work to be tour guides to us.

A shooter from NSW has loaded hundreds of custom loads for me at no charge for his time and shipped them to my hunt destinations. We've never met, but shooters are great people. Another F-Class shooter, when I expressed interest in S&B scopes picked me up in Darwin and took me out to the Darwin range to try his. The next year he took nearly a week off work to show us around parks and shooting areas, tourist attractions and such. He's offered the loan of custom rifles so I don't need to fly with mine, offered to loan vehicles, stores ammo and pre-buys supplies that I need and can't fly. He's offered to load anything I want as well.

There's good folks in that place.
