Hi everyone. I'm from Vancouver and I was reffered to this site by the staff at S.I.R when i got the dissapointing news that the SKS riffle that they advertise as being in stock actually won't be arriving and that the ETA is anybody's guesse.

I've been browsing the threads and i feel pretty comfy here:) But, I can't get into the EE for mil surp for some reason. Do i Have to make a certain number of posts or apply to my CFO before i'm allowed access:p?

I do also have a burning question that i need answered, i hope someone on the board will be able to help me: What is the deal with all the 'factory refurbished' sigs on the market in vancouver? Like, I have seen sig p220's in .45 going for 780$, and I am thinking that maybe something might be wrong with them?

I've been told by most dealers that the warranty on these sigs are void because they are refurbished... I could care less about that really. But are these things going to blow up in my hand or something?

I know it seems a bit paraniod, but 780 for a sig p220 in .45 seems a little to good to be true. Can anybody out there advise?

I remember seeing somewhere that i need to be approved by a mod and that takes a few days.

Yeah, Vancouver's got a good sized CGN'er community. Lots of variation in ages too, not that the old farts aren't fun to shoot with (and almost 100% of the time outshoot me :D)

Factory refurbished will mean it should not 'blow up in your hand'. It has been inspected and brought up to a safe standard by the factory. I would feel more comfortable buying one of these than a used one that has never been inspected by a gunsmith. It would not do much for SIG PR wise to have a refurb of theirs explode, so buy with confidence. True there will be no warrantee from the factory but the way Sig builds guns, you should never really need it...

Where have you seen them for $780? I might just get one and let you know first hand how they are.:D The only thing to really check is the mag release...I've seen used Sig 220s for cheap and wondered why only to figure it out when I see the release on the heel (euro style) instead of the grip (NA style). Also, there is likely some holster wear so don't expect it to look new (some are worse than others though).

Enjoy CGN...My only advice is read all the stickys to figure out forum petpeeves (ie bullpup rifles in Black and Green rifles) before you do a lot of posting...Believe me it will make your time here more enjoyable.;)

oh, i'm in burnaby. Origionally from a large castle in west vancouver full of scottish lawyers - all of them armed to the teeth!
 
Welcome, from us flatlanders from Saskatchewan.
Most of my siblings and their families live in Vancouver. BC is beautiful, and lots to see and do, but when I visit too long, miss the sun and get claustrophobic, cured by at least seeing the ocean with the horizon to imitate the prairies.

The refurbished sigs are just fine. Still, if you stay on the EE on this site, I think you will find a sig to your specs at even better prices, especially if you want more than one or two mags to go with the gun. The members here usually sell as a pkg, with extra mags, and holster/rigs, and the value for the dollar can't be beat, as compared to buying just the gun alone, and while you pay for the minor shipping, more than offset the gst/pst you might have to pay.

So welcome, don't be afraid to ask questions, i still do, and be confident giving us your experience, knowledge and input for lively discussions.
