So sent in my PAL and RPAL paperwork a few weeks ago, I know they have it now as I sent it registered, anyone know what the current wait times are? Im pretty sure it will go through I scored 100/100 on both tests for both written and practical portions and have no criminal record.

Im from the Vancouver area and got my license to do target shooting and also hope to get into hunting. I also do A lot of backcountry hiking and wanted a gun for protection while in the woods.

I intend to get a SKS and a Remington 870 as my first 2 guns, the sks for cheap ammo so I can fire off a few thousand rounds and get used to/accurate firing a rifle and the shotgun for protection backcountry.

Looking for suggestions on a good hunting rifle that I could also use for 600-1000 yard target shooting(so far thinking of going with .308, .300 win mag, .30-06, .338 win mag, .338 lapua, something in this range), maybe double duty a hunting rifle and long range target gun are not the best idea but im going to give it a shot. I realize the .338's might be a bit big for anything ill be hunting in BC.

I also have this undying urge to buy a 1895 guide gun, I don't know why it doesn't fit any practical use I have for firearms but a buddies dad has one and I love the lever action, and the stopping power of the 45-70. I cant ever imagine being in the woods with a guide gun in my hands and coming across something and thinking to myself #### should have brought more firepower lol. Everytime I handle that gun I feel like it was made for me, its weird.

Welcome from another new member. Now for the excruciating waiting game, I applied early November for PAL/RPAL and got my card in mail just before Christmas. It probably speeds things up a bit if you check your online status and once you see that you have an application # give them a call and hopefully they will ask you to have one of your references call in.
