Apparently the .223 that was a good round in Viet Nam may not be the best for the job in Iraq and such places. So a new military round the 6.8mm Rem. SPC has been developed. A .270 cal. on a shortened .30 rem case with an altered shoulder. 115 gr. FMJ at ~ 2800 fps.
"RIFLE SHOOTER" magazine had a good write up on it.
