every time something changes the quality goes down not sure how this happens but it makes for conversation
i guess since the 1960's to date all firearms marketed in north america are simply junk very pricey junk but non the less junk

Bought a supergrade maple for my cousin 2-3 years ago. extremely nice rifle fit and finish, put on a old vx3 1.5-6x
he loves it and so far has not any issues quality or anything of the such. I on the other hand hated...how nice the wood and bluing was
makes it tough for a guy to throw that around in the truck haha jokes aside, I tell anyone these days factory rifle with nice wood and bluing and quality wise model 70 super grade is my only choice.
I hate browning however the new xbolt 2 with wood and blue looks sharp!

I enjoy a nice Winchester 70 myself, my experience began with a 670a. Good experience with an m70 Alaskan as well. In saying that 3-4 years ago i bought two super grades one with maple and the other with walnut. One shot at best 2" and the other 4-5 inches was the norm with all sorts of ammo I tried. Wasn't happy with them, turns out one had a bad barrel right from factory, bore scoped and pits were found in it. Keep in mind this was a new gun and from a reputable dealer. After looking into these issues, it turns out I wasn't the only one dealing with issues, quality reports of recent production m70's seem to have gone down hill across the board.
