New Model 700 XCR II???

The only possible issue I see with them, is that they are using a 1:10 twist for the .280. Which is quite odd, because they use a 1:9.25 twist for the .280 in the CDL SF model.:confused:

It might be fine, but seems a little slow to me...

Something else that is odd is, its seems they are only chambering the XCR II in long actions, including the .300 WSM done on a L/A (exact same specs as the .300WM). Why bother?

I bet it's a typo on the LA for WSM. Ive handled a XCRII in 7mm RM, I liked it. Not a fan of the plastic stock but the black stainless is cool.

Kwik klip should work just fine

it'll be a typo...bet the twist is a typo also.....even Remington isn't dumb enough to make a different twist for the 280 when the 7 Mags and the 7-08 are 9.25....doesn't lend well to mass production of barrels....but that said, I don't think a 10" twist would cause any problems...unless you wanted to shoot 175's..maybe it would show up...

I am starting to waver between the 280 rem and 270 win though. I really like the 280 rem and I do handload but the 270 win with 110gr TTSX should make a wicked coyote/deer load! Then load it with some 130gr TSX for Deer/Black Bear/Moose, should cover all the bases.

Nice to hear you guys think the Kwik Klip with work, really not interested if I can't convert it to a DM.
 
These xcr2's are coming up cheap these days.
I picked one off cabelas for $699 in 30-06 a few months back, just because I thought it was cheap.
The plastic stock was as expected junk.
The black stainless is great. Did the trigger to 3lbs.
I had a old bell Carlson rem ti take off laying around and it suited the gun.
I'm looking forward to putting some rounds through it. Here are the pics

 
I have a couple of XCR II's, one in 30-06 that I bought off the EE and a NIB 338WM that I bought recently from a dealer for $799 (sale price). They're Remington 700's, so there's not much to say, good or bad, that hasn't already been mentioned before. I will say that, living in the wet/salty west coast, I very much like finish on these rifles. I've found the black to be very durable and tough (doesn't scratch). Where I have had some wear is a the muzzle from an ATV scabbard, but even then, this simply exposes the nickel-coated stainless, so you still have the weather resistance.

I may have been lucky, but both of my rifles have the X-mark trigger and a good trigger pull without any work.

As has been mentioned, the green plastic stock isn't worth writing home about, but it's functional and weather-proof. I replaced my 30-06's stock with an 1st Gen B&C Ti stock, which is nice combo.

I'd buy one again without hesitation.
 
Extra lows, they are very tight. But work and have paper thick clearance.
Personally "lows" are probably better and allow for flexibility on how you can move the scope in the rings
