After loading my cylinder with 20-25 g of fffg, wad, then a lead ball(.454) I usually take it out and and push the lead ball with a wooden dowel a little further by hand. I usually get almost an extra 1/8 of extra depth by doing this. I only do this because the lever maxes out and it does not feel like it has compressed enough to remove the air gap. I don't think its an issue with the lever, it looks and function just like my other Remington. What kind of load do I need for it to seat properly against the powder? Revolver is a original new model army .44.

I put corn meal between the powder and ball in my original Remy 44. Adjust the quantity of corn meal to get desired ball seating depth. Finish up with a little grease. Seems to work well.
