New Model Cooey Winchester 600 Information

I am in the middle of restoring this rifle ---- but it's difficult to do without knowing which parts are original and which aren't. I previously had a Model 60, but the take down is WAY different. Here's my questions that I KNOW someone out there knows:

1) The scope mounting holes on the side of the receiver ---- what is the thread for these (the current screws ARE NOT the correct ones and I may be able to re-tap)

2) The rear tube magazine retainer ---- correct me if I am wrong, but this is supposed to be perpendicular to the barrel, no???

3) On the newer models, is the take down a screw that screws into a threaded bolt in the magazine retainer or is the mechanism more like a Model 60 --- with the flush mounted hollow bolt extending out of the stock??

Finally, are these guys still a good supplier of Cooey/Winchester parts?????http://www.westerngunparts.com/

1) 4x 8-40 screws required for factory Cooey 60/600 sidemount.

2) I'm not certain what you mean exactly... Is yours' bent? Tilted forward, or backward? The magazine retainer (through which takedown stud passes) is perpendicular to barrel (no accounting for barrel taper)

3) Later models have 2 nuts instead of one on the takedown screw, and are slightly different than the 60.

Might be easier for you to post some pics of what you have, and go from there.

^^^^^^^^^ thanks for this

^^^^^^^^^ That's kinda what I thought ---- I can't imagine why this one was tilted forward ----- won't be too hard to put it back into place, I hope.

Yeah, pics would be easier, but the (ahem) "recipient" was right beside me (grandson) with the "whatchadoin?" ----- kinda hard to post pics in that circumstance

The rear retainer fits in a dovetail and should look like this:

Instead of a single stud for adjusting and takedown(as on previous models), it's a 2 part stud n' takedown screw.

Yeah, that's the part that's bent ---- I'll just heat it up and bend it back carefully. The single stud version, IIRC, is on the Model 60? The one on this version I have has a bored bolt ----- the bolt itself threads into the part you mentioned above, and then a takedown screw threads into the middle of the bored bolt ------ but it's a REALLY small screw!! Not much bigger than an 1/8th of an inch ---- and certainly isn't the correct type
