Picked up my new Savage 10fp in .223 last week and after deciding that spending a few hundred on a new stock wasn't an option took it upon myself to tinker with it a bit.
Figured the rear could use some weight so I decided to "cast" myself a sweet weighted insert for it. I had a crap load of lead collecting dust from my black powder days, might as we'll use it up.
The negative/positive of the piece to be cast.
Cookin' up a batch o' lead
Freshly poured....effen hot that crap is, just ask me how I know!
Turned out pretty good. The top one is version 1 not quite heavy enough. The solid insert is version 2. Go big or go home. A few pounds of solid lead never hurt anyone.
Figured I the forened would be lonley without some tinkering to so I drizzzled some expoxy and embeded a length of an old carbon arrow shaft. Hope she's good and stiff now.
I have absolutley no idea what I'm doing but hey good its all in good fun while getting heavy metal poisoning.
