I've read quite a bit about this on here but still have a few questions. I just bought a mosin at the local hardware store on impulse and now of course I want to play with it. It's made in 1930, octagonal receiver, numbers on the receiver, bolt and mag match. What are my options for mounting a scope? I want it to look original but it doesn't have to be authentic. From reading I see that I can't use a PU scope setup but that doesn't tell me much cause I don't have a clue what the difference is between a PU and a pe. I really don't want to chop the bolt handle off so if that's what I'd need to do ill just buy a sniper repro sometime.
Thank you mosin experts.

Your better off buying a Scoped Mosin From West Rifle,

Your 1930 Hex reciever wasn't ment to be scoped with a Side mounted PU Scope Like this one....(has High-wall Round reciever)

You could mount a " PE top reciever Mount", with the bigger 4x Power Scope.

Ok thanks. I'm really not all that enthusiastic about drilling and tapping it anyway.
Going out to shoot it now. -20 outside, sometimes I think I'm different...
