New Mossberg 4x4...anyone?

handled the synthetic 4x4, had the big hole in the rear of the stock and vented forend. Looks like a mall ninja 10-22 but even worse. Feel, well it is tupperware, pretty much a plastic ugly POS stock. The walnut and laminates arent quite as bad looking due to the fact they at least have a rear buttstock, but they still have the vented forend. On a hunting rifle, its pointless, and to me, it doesnt even look cool.

TB,

I agree with you totally about the look of the version with the hole in the stock. It does look like a 10-22. I don't mind the looks of the other stocks though.

What was the action like (smooth with appropriate tolerances or was it stiff, etc...)?

So your issue is merely cosmetic, and what you consider what a proper hunting rifle should look like... I bet there is some old guy out there with a musket, and a raccoon hat that thinks your rifle doesn't look cool. :p

Mossberg..overall Im not a fan of any of their stuff. Its inexpensive, and its obvious why

You are entitled to your opinion of course but my experiences have been quite different
I own 2 Mossberg shotguns and would gladly buy another of their products tommorrow
I have been so happy with them I have almost bought some of the older .22 s just because they are Mossys even though I def don't need another .22

You would not be dissappointed with one of those old 22's.

I like the stock desing on that rifle!

you also probably think its cool because it looks like a Spyder paintball gun

the action on the 4x4, like I said in my first post, suprised me. It was alot smoother than I expected (at least on the one I handled) and it really stood apart from the ATR like feel I was expecting.

someone should buy a 4x4 Mossy and let us know how they are ;)

well I dont think they've hit shelves yet, and IIRC they will be around $550-600? (not for the packages) but dont quote me on that

Del Sellin in Vernon might get some as He is a authorized Mossberg dealer.

This one in 30-06 has caught my eye, as I live and play in a fricken rain forest, so I'm sick of worrying, about wood, and blued steel. :D

Which Mossberg rifle have yo had the chance to try out REDD?

What exactly was not to your liking (ex. not inaccurate enough, any parts failing, etc...)?

BT

The only Mossberg I have not had in my hand is the 4X4 they did not have one at the dealer show. The ATR is typical Mossberg quality which is not very good. The actions are sticky the triggers are crap and the fit and finish only adequate at best. The Mossy shotguns are even worse... my apologies to anyone here who owns one, sorry about your luck. Buy a Stevens if your looking for an entry level rifle.

Stainless/synthetic...

Gotta admit, that does look cool...

Would be nice to see it offered in 7mm-08 or .308 though on a short action...

I have an ATR and when I first handled it I was very dissapointed. The action was sticky the trigger felt awful and the stock had mold lines all over the place. After a night of working the action and a couple hundred rounds down the pipe I love the gun. I currently have mounted a Burris Fullfield on it and it seems to perform quite well. I have managed to shoot a couple groups under an inch at 100. This is real good for me since I am a new shooter. The rifle is a 30-06. At first it was likely to much caliber for me. I had a bit of a flinch. I have since bought a savage 93 22 mag and hav been putting tons of rounds through it. This has helped my technique quite a bit. My last range session got me one group of 3 shots all touching at 100 yards. My other groups were sub inch. This seems to be pretty good for a rifle costing less than 300 bones. The only reason I went with the mossy over the stevens was the stock..color only....and the fact it came with bases and was a little cheaper. The 200's seem to be a little more accurate but I think the mossy does ok too....I will say my next gun will be a savage heavy barrel in 243...
I love my new savage.

We have a Mossberg dealer a short drive from Montreal. I'll give him a call to find out if he has received this model yet.

The dealer in Mtl still hasn't received them yet. He wouldn't venture on a price either...
