New Mossberg 4x4 bolt action

I think Im going to buy one if I can find a 7mm with a laminte stock in Canada. The reviews on these rifles are quite positive from what I have read.

Can you point us to the sites where you have read them?

I would like to find out more about the 4x4 other than the "I don't like" Mossbergs input I've received when I inquired about it in an earlier thread.

Thanks,

BT

Check out this months "Shooting Times" has a thorough review of the Mossberg 4x4 and gives it a thumbs up for accuracy and price.

Went out and bought the latest issue of Shooting Times.

The writer gave the 4x4 an excellent review. It is rather impressive in the accuracy department.

I read the shooting times article as well but I found it leaving me with alot of questions . I found it almost written like an advertizement . I'd like to know a little more about it , maybe even a picture of the the l/h side of it . How slick is the bolt ? how's the magazine ? how well does it feed ? How many pounds is the trigger set at ? is it adjustable ? if so how and to what range ?
This article didn't answer a lot but it does make me want to check one out .
One thing I am wondering is it appears to have many design appearances to the Savage , are they related to one another ?

I had one and shot it for a test. It was very good for the price in my opinion. Comparable to a Stevens 200 it seemed. Mediocre fit and finish but reasonabe price too. Accuracy was quite good. Good beater or truck/boat gun.

I agrre, the article did sound like the marketing stuff they've recently put out on their website.

That being said, whether it is a promo writer from Mossberg, he also got me interested enough to go and check it out once my local dealer finally receives his "shipment" (although I have some doubts about there actually being any "shipment", it seems some dealers tell you that they sold their last one the day or week bfore, my dealer's problem always seems to be "shipments" stuck or delayed somewhere).

You are right, it does look a lot like the Savage 12 (which they have in their new equipment section of the same issue of Shooting Times).

I guess we'll see as the "shipments" come in to Canada.

We are talking about the 4x4, not the ATR. Here is a pic:

I have done a little shooting with a 4x4 in .270 with the synthetic skeletonized stock. Using a Weaver 8x, 3-shot groups with 130 gn bullets were just over an inch (1 to 1.1 in.). Pretty good start I thought. Trigger was just a little creepy and broke about 4 lb. Appears to be no adjustment to the trigger. Barrel is free-floated. Rifle fels good , with a small grip area which I like. There is a picture on my website www.shooterschoice.ca

I handled one of the new 4x4's today at the shop. Black on black. To me it looks fugly, but the fit seemed good. And as mentioned, the small grip area did feel nice. It would definitely make a good starter, bush, truck, beater rifle.
