hey guys, just got my new Mossberg 500 persuader today in the mail from cabellas, its a nice looker, however i sold my ithaca m87 to get her, and id have to say the ithaca seemed like a better made gun overall. I guess for 319$ what do u expect? anyone have a 500A? any reliability issues? long term owners happy?

I have had a mossberg 500 for two years now, approx round count is 5000. Not to low or high, no problems though. I dont clean it excessively at all after a shoot, and dont treat it like a princess. Only thing I dont like is how much wear is on my slide and around the slide from racking it back. Other than that its the only thing I can complain about.

THANKS for the input..... i noitced the wear on my slide and mag after racking it only a couple of times, thats was one of the reasons i thought it was cheap. the finish defintely isnt as nice as it was on my ithaca, but i did have it out at the range yesterday..... shes goes bang... thats the main thing....

i drag my mossberg 500 out while fly fishin in the rockies its dropped in mud, rocks and water. left it in the rain, stays in a damp tent and only cleaned it once since I got it. functions flawlessly and isn't rusted heavy, just a tiny bit inside the barrel, but i have a camo paint job on it. great part is I only paid 200 bucks for it. own 2 others and so do my buddies. i trust my life with them, never had a single problem with any of them.

those wear marks are normal.

thanks beer gut, thas gives me a bit of re assurance about the quality of the gun, it just seemed cheap out of the box, it functions nice though.
