New Mossberg flat top version vs chopped flat top

So my flat top showed up in the mail. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY.
cleaned it with a snake. Removed the sights and extra side rails. Went out and shot 50 rounds.
Groups just like the original.
Now I have to decide if I want to sell the chopped version or keep it for parts or a friend gun.....

Do the side rails come off or were they molded into the handguard ?
Are the sights plastic/composite as well ?

Used a hand saw and then a drill for the top two bolts for the rail. If you are going to do the chop. Buy a rail first. Way cheaper at a paintball or airsoft place. Like $12 compared to $60 at the gun stores. And yes the rail is metal. Just make sure it fits you optic before you buy it! There are two different size rails. Once you have the rail you'll know where you need to cut.
The bolts it comes with are too short so go to Canadian tire and buy abit longer ones and washers or locking nuts. Cost is 30 cents!!!!
You'll have to dremel out the support collums on the inside of the housing. Make it flush so the washer/nuts fits level to the top of the housing.
The only bad thing is when you fully strip down the mossy to clean it. The rail may move. So you'll have to retighten the rail after cleaning and resight in.
With the new flat top I won't have this issue.

I like the new flat top version ... the rails line up better.

Nice to see they removed that annoying bump behind the breach opening when they made the Flat Top. If they could make the mag release more user friendly that would help to. Other than that I like the Mossy tactical. Both versions.
