A few CGN members told me of this gun.
Is it out and is it built like the S&W 15-22???
Im looking for a shorter barrel for my 15-22.
It would be awesome it have a 7.5 or 10.5" barrel.
Way lighter. Im guessing I could get the 15-22 under 4lbs.

I know someone with an NEA 7.5" .22LR upper, never fired. If you're interested I can get in touch with him, as far as I know there's not many floating around.

That would be awesome. I thought this is a new 22lr. Different than the AR-15 models. More like the m&p 15-22.
I know NEA makes uppers for AR.
The pin placement in the 15-22 is different than the milspec AR lowers.

Thats mated to a restricted lower..........ya that makes alot of sense

It does. I can take my .22s anywhere I can legally shoot. I can hunt gophers, whatever.

All I can do with my AR is punch paper.

Let's say I was doing some training for 3 gun or I purchased a new trigger/ triggers.
And I wanted to put 500-1000 rounds down range in a afternoon.
lets ballpark and say that 500 rounds of 5.56 is $250.
500 rounds of .22 is what $40 these days for low end stuff SK and Elay are much higher.

so the money dropped on a dedicated upper in my mind is offsetting the cost of "always" shooting 5.56.

I really don't see the point of restricted .22 rifles. That's just me.
I can however see the point to a dedicated .22 upper.

I do agree.. I don't see the difference that the caliber makes when its restricted by name...

sounds good to me! AND its a REAL functioning AR15 not a 10/22 in a plastic stock or a mossturd plinkster!

Hold on...... are you saying you can shoot a AR with a 22lr upper, anywhere? As in anywhere Non-restricteds can shoot?

No not at all.
I'm saying a dedicated 22lr upper is a great training tool for the range.
I stated I could take my dedicated 22 non-restricted rifles wherever it's legal to shoot.
Hence saying I don't see the point of restricted .22s

I get the point of a .22 ar I have a bolt conversion that I use frequently, however your posts are contradicting each other. First you say you dont see the point of a restricted .22 which an ar with a .22 upper is then you say you shoot a .22 upper to offset the price of centerfire which I completely understand.
Your posts are just kinda confusing

I don't see the point of restricted 22 rifles like the HK416, 15-22 and the Colt. I have multiple lowers and uppers. I also have 22 rifles that serve a different purpose for my shooting.

sorry for your confusion.

Ok thanks guys.
Getting back on track. Im wanting a shorter barrel for my 15-22. I was hoping that it was compatible since the only aftermarket barrels are from the UK.

So is the NEA-15 restricted or not or is that yet to be determined by the powers that be? I also see no point in restricted .22's unless you only shoot at a range.

restricted. Its an AR15 with a .22 upper...

**edit** I still agree with 'Innercity' as it is a useful tool to acquire 10 times the amount of trigger time on your AR for the same ammo cost, an SR22, mossturd, Rem 597, 10/22 in an archangel stock, or even JR carbine, Keltec whatever etc etc etc just can't do that... but at the same time shows how non-sense the people are that are making up our laws.

Crap, another cool looking gun I will never own:( Thanks for the answer even thought it wasn't what I wanted to hear.

From what I can see it doesn't look like an AR compatible lower. That doesn't mean the RCMP wont think it's a WMD but it might not be restricted. ( target sports web site sucks rocks so I can't check and NEA's site doesn't say ).

No indication what the mag cap is either.

I have no use for a restricted rifle let alone one in .22lr. However, if Target Sports had one like this NEA on sale (~$700) it would find a home in my cabinet….
