New NEA Items, 20 Aug 2013

Ryan one more question. The slickside upper receiver picture shows an ejection port cover installed. Does this come with it or is it only for illustrative purposes?

Received my VZ58 hand guard set today - Thanks Ryan!

Does anyone have tips on installing the upper and lower guards? The upper is very tight - thinking I will need to file the inside faces at the locking pin. The lower confuses me though... the front seems to slip into the steel cap fine but the rear can't clear the receiver to swing into place. The rifle is a CSA VZ58 with synthetic furniture. Thanks for any input!

The lower hand guard should slide on with little to no resistance once the pin is removed.

Just a caution re: the upper hand guard. The locking pin for my upper continuously came loose and actually fell out with continued shooting. Resolved that problem with Loctite Blue

The pin is out, I managed to remove the original lower guard without difficulty. I don't have it with me at the moment, but comparing the two last night, the NEA seemed to be about 1/16" longer. I'm hoping that if I have to remove material, it can be from the front end which slips inside the forward cap.

As for the upper, there is a burr remaining on my receiver which is biting into the aluminum of the guard. I think I'll file the burr off and apply some cold blue to the area. I hate to remove material from accessories and especially the firearm itself, but it looks to be necessary.
