Hey Peter, any idea when they will be available?

Just called Nightforce on availability and to quote " first quarter" to which we commented it is best to advise late first quarter, so about 90 days would be a fair ETA.

Regards,

Peter

With those new prices, I decided to take the plunge on a 2014 NXS. Got exactly the same as on my 700P. (5.5-22x56 with the MOAR-T) Those new prices really scared me! I'm glad P&D had another one in stock. It's going to look awful good on top of the M.H..

The prices posted in this thread are for the new for 2015 FFP scopes. I'm not sure but I think the existing SFP scopes haven't changed much in price.

You are right about these biting into the BEAST and the ATACR F2. But those weren't what people wanted and Nightforce took a lot of heat for that. The response to these has been mostly positive. So far the gripes have been about reticles. But, that's easy for them to address.

I think you'll find the NXS mostly being phased out. The NXS F1 is now listed in the discontinued models. They don't have feature that tactical shooters want, they don't have the magnification F-Class and benchrest shooters want and they're too expensive for most hunters. Nightforce now has scopes that are geared towards each of there groups with the new ATACR F1s, Competition/Benchrest models and the SHVs. Pretty sure a new 1-6x is in the works that will replace the 1-4x NXS. Stuff changes, and with their line, change was long overdue.

Btw, the F1 5-25 ATACR is a completely different scope than the F2 ATACR. Put their pictures side-by-side and you'll see it.

Edit:
F1 = FFP
F2 = SFP (the original ATACR)

^this. I also hope it won't happen.

Fwiw I have the latest as of November nf atacr mil in my hands, 5-25. It is bright and sharp. I was going to put it on the Atrs mh, but for now will place it on my SA m1a super match. Anyone local who want to see it, ring me up. It is a crystal clear and bright optic, that's all I can say.

I can see NF dropping the 3.5-15 F1 as the new 4-16 is a direct replacement but the rest of the NXS have a place IMO, see what happens I guess.

And yes the SFP ATACR's are very very nice, I had two, still have one (MOAR-T) on my 338 and the glass is almost S&B good, built like a tank and tons of elevation travel.

I can see a 4-16 ATACR F1 in my future. I wish they would design some better MIL reticles thou, the MIL-R is ok but much prefer S&B HCMR2, MSR. Steiners new SCR reticle is pretty much perfect IMO.

They have a place based on the current offerings. But, once NF adds more models to the newer lines...

These new ATACRs aren't the only new models. There are new SHV and Benchrest models as well.

50 variants of a few models. A 5.5-22x50mm with 10 combinations of different turret and reticle options is still only 1 model.

Is this going to be a exciting shot show?

It's shaping up to be...

These, more NF SHV models, more NF Competition/Benchrest models, the new Steiner T5Xi scopes, a new Bushnell LRSH 4.5-18x model, bunch of new rifle powders from IMR and Alliant and new bullets from Sierra. Norma has announced 6.5 Creedmore, 6.5 Grendel, 300 AAC Blackout, 7mm RUM and 7mm SAUM brass this years, in addition to a reloading manual. Lapua is releasing 300 AAC Blackout and 7mm-08 brass. And that's just the stuff that has been announced. Many companies only announce the new stuff at the show. I'm expecting Winchester to release 6.5 Creedmore brass since they offered the ammo last year. They won't confirm or deny it though.

What we do know is that interest in NF is higher than ever. Regarding NXS, there are variants on models of course, but still a bunch with 50 part numbers, so it's not easy stocking, but stock we must with the capital being huge for small business!

Best regards,

Peter
