I just took delivery of this NHC PredatorII courtesy of the exceptional services of Mike at Ellwood Epps who is now distributing for the Arkansas builder. NHC is known for having the best customer service in the industry so they are a good match for Ellwood Epps.

The dominant feature of this Commander 45 is the solid cone bull barrel which I believe is unique to NHC. Based on the catalogue Predator II platform, I added a few "custom" features to my taste including the chain link finish on the front and back straps, an Ed Brown bobbed grip, Trijicon night sights with an adjustable rear and a non-standard ambi-safety.

The weighted barrel moderates recoil and muzzle flip making the gun very comfortable to shoot and extremely accurate to 1 inch at 25 yards. The trigger measures out to 3.75 pounds consistently and is so crisp that it feels like 2 pounds. I will never be able to shoot this gun to its potential.

Needless to say, the fit and finish are impeccable.

Nighthawk is a custom house by any definition that makes sense in that they will build exactly to your specs and will even use parts you supply as long as they are top quality. The Predator II base price which covers a highly-featured gun that many buy as is comes to $2950.00 USD. My gun came to roughly $3900.00 Canadian through Ellwood Epps. I had the grips made up on a special order on VZ as I liked the Camo effect but wanted the NHC logo on them. Build time was 17 weeks with the whole process managed by Mike Tredinnick at Ellwood Epps. The following picture was snagged with permission off the NHC website (http://www.nighthawkcustom.com/PredatorFamily.aspx)

This is my first 1911 and a bit of an adjustment from my SIG's but it's a great place to start :)

Thanks for the update. I've got a GRP in .45 that I absolutely love and have been looking for a mate in 9mm but without a dealer in Canada it seemed futile. Now that Epps is on board that changes the picture for sure!

Very nice. I'd like to see a pic of that chain link up close on the front and back straps if you don't mind. Also, how does this barrel differ from the one that Wilson uses on the Tactical Elite? It's been a while since I've looked at higher end 1911's so that's why I'm asking.

Epps, Target Sports and The Shooting Edge are all authorized Nighthawk dealers. So you've even have a few choices.

These shots are not of my gun but were picked up with permission from the Nighthawk.com site. Nighthawk produces a line of Richard Heinie models and a few others in collaboration with other related businesses. You can choose checkering, serrations or hand stippling on various areas of the pistol. I couldn't find one of a chain linked bobbed grip but you will get the idea.

There are a huge number of pictures on http://forum.m1911.org/forumdisplay.php?f=93 where I picked up ideas for my configuration.

My gun was actually ordered with a Dark Earth slide and an Olive Drab frame with black controls. I have never seen another Nighthawk in these colours. This is one of the benefits of dealing with NHC; you can configure a unique setup. The gun was finished in black in error but this will be corrected soon when I return it to them.

As far as I know and I could be wrong, the Wilson barrel is two piece. The NHC barrel is machined from solid stock and mates perfectly with the slide
