Rifle Dynamics puts a Nickel Boron coating on their rifles so that lube isn't needed, and corrosion is a non-issue.

Are there any shops in Canada that do the same?

Maybe in the aerospace or high-end engine building world? I haven't done any research about the nickel-boron to know where it's used.

And they say there's nothing interesting in Sakatoon.

Nickel-Boron is a common coating for Sour Service (NACE) trim components that we use in the oil patch. Valve balls and seats, hard coated components like drill motor bearing parts etc. Something to remember, it's non-ductile so whatever you plate can't flex.
