New Norinco M14 Shipment Coming In!

This thread has been an eye opener...... thought we were supposed to be better than this....

Simple economics. Supply and demand. If Frontier has them, bought them for a fixed price, added in the profit margine that is required to run a business usually 30-70%, the price would be much higher.

As far as I can figure most gun shops and online dealers make between 7-15% on gun sales. Seems all the money is in accessories.

640 -
25 shipping =
615 -
7% Gst =
580 -
15% profit =
493

So if my numbers are correct Frontier would make approx $40 - $90 per rifle. Not a whole lot of money to have to deal with the CFC and other government agencies.
Now if this was any other business other than firearms, and we start with the base price of approx $490 and add 30-70% for a normal profit margin...

The price without shipping or tax for one of these rifles would be $637 - $833.

So if you don't like Frontier's prices don't shop there. And don't ##### about past prices as they're gone and won't be back. If you do have a place that sells cheaper grab one or two and then tell a buddy or another nutter so that they too can get what they want at a reasonable price.

After reading this quote I can honestly say I will never purchase anything from your store. I also have seen this flyer while I was talking to a friend at a shop close to me. I can say without doubt that I am ashamed to read a dealer attacking someone on a forum over a price he knows is out of line and is a quick money grab. If I decide to by one from my dealer I will post a copy of my receipt and I invite everyone else to do the same

The price seems reasonable to me. Prices can change.

Try Springfield armory price. Also, how can you state this that you "know is out of line and is a quick money grab"? How can you prove that?

All I can add is, if Frontier is paying more for their M14s, its too bad. USGI fibreglass stocks, good ones, sell for just $27 in the USA. With a 20% US dollar price drop since January (1.07 retail exchange today) prices should have already declined. (China is a US dollar based economy for those that don't know. I have ordered goods from Shenzhen, Taiwan, etc.) These Canadian wholesalers are simply raising prices because it is a new product: the Chinese are not. I can guarantee it.

Have you ever tried to get an export permit for 50-100 USGI stocks? How about even one? They can be free or the US dealer can pay me to take them off their hands, they still are not going to move one foot closer to Canada, otherwise everyone would be bringing them in.

I also understand that in this buisness (to some people) anytime the store makes enough for a living, they are over charging. If a dealer sells puts a hair margin on items and sells to their buddys, thats their decision, it does not mean anyone charging more is a rip off.

A good example is items from our clearence page. We have sold old stock at cost because it just wasnt selling (sold $400.00). A dealer was selling the same item for $520.00 ($400 Whoesale cost plus 30% profit), well the guy on the phone went to the other dealer and acused him of been a scamer, and rip off artist, and told him he was going to never step foot into his store because he was such a crook.

The moral of the story, the other dealer was not a crook or running a scam, he was trying to run a buisness and make a living. We could not move the product and sold for cost to get it out of the store. Yet the price at cost was now the new industry standard. Some stores use new items a a loss leader and blow them out with little profit, some store use them to make a living. Theres a few things to consider before organizing a witch hunt.

Well then you my friend got a steal of a deal cause I have seen those for as high as $500!!!!!!!

Amen brother! I'm sitting on a new, unused Tapco SKS T6 stock in the coveted ACU that I got for $200CDN before the end of the Tapco supply came. Now that it is unobtanium, I'd say the stock alone could fetch $300 on EE. But I am keeping mine for now. If there is one thing that CGN has taught me it is Supply and "Command". :D

Oh my friend my friend , I hate to be the one to bring bad news but Fabsports has the Tapco T-6's from $119 to $139 , they just got them in !

But I bet that stock will fetch a fair price regardless !!!!
Oh wait pardon my ingorance but whats ACU ?

Don't like the price, don't buy it!!

Its just that friggin simple!!!

If you don't like the price...fine...don't buy one.

There are plenty of people willing to buy at that price for

1. A rifle they can actually get soon
2. The pleasure of dealing with the very nice folks at Frontier
3. Not having the hassle of calling around to find one
etc. etc.

Give me a FREAKIN' BREAK!!! These are selling at other dealers for $475. Yes, same as the old price. Why do you think anyone would buy that or anything else at Frontier?

That is actually good news if Fabsports has them in and they are not "Marstaring it" on the Fabsports website.

ACU is "Army Combat Uniform" for the USA. It is the greyish marpat that they use in Iraq and the Ghan. The lady I talked to at Tapco a month ago said the ACU pattern was discontinued and I don't see it on the Fabarm sight. I do like Fabarm's multicam stock if they have them in stock.

The prices seem reasonalble to me.

If you don't like the price don't buy, but please quit whining.

Frankly, the whining is making me want to support Frontier by buying one

I offered the $27 USGI stock example as a point of comparison but that did not come out in my post.
It is less costly for Chinese manufacturers to produce a fibreglass stock.
Wood in China is less available.
Wood stocks from China "should" cost more.
Furthermore, with a 20% US dollar haircut, prices should be coming down as goods from Chinese businesses are priced, typically, in US dollars (certainly not Yuans).

We've been hearing from a certain dealer (not Frontier) that M14s are being discontinued for about 2 years and yet new product shows up all the time. That horse**** has been propagated for too long.

New M14s are being stocked at dealers across Canada right now and the last quote I got was $465/$485 for black synthetic but I will have to wait until 1st week in August.

The guys in Ottawa delayed the shipment because they thought these new rifles were fully automatic.
Hence, some dealers still don't have the new M14s on their shelves yet.

My first post originally "picked" on Frontier's pricing but it wasn't Frontier I was aiming at, it was the new price point of the M14 that I thought, quite suddenly and irresponsibly, that all dealers would be raising prices. This is not true.

LOL thats the funniest sheep comment I've read on here. your going to pay more for something cause some people are mad that someone is jacking up a price because people want it. I'll remember that the next time someone comes in my store for an air conditioner in august. I'll just pump up my price 200 bucks cause their kids are sweating.

How can you prove that Frontier is intentionally jacking up the price? You are just gossiping and speculating.

should be ---- would be.... dollar coming up or down ..... price of oil too high and a rip off........ Stabuck's coffee no good ........ bullets a rip off, should be free for all we can carry ........blah, blah, blah....

Where oh where and when did everyone become such experts at running everyone else's businesses?

Do not shop where you feel that you are being taken advantage of---- very very simple

Business people have long since learned that you either make money or go out of business. There is NO in between. The other lesson is that bad customers are pushed out of the door as fast as they are determined to be bad customers that are never satisfied. Those people are a drain on time, energy and profits. They literally suck the life out of you as you try (foolishly) and make them happy.

Not the right deal for you - then just buy elsewhere. No other place to buy -- well you have a problem now dont you?

Guess what, Francis? That's ####ing capitalism.

Marvin, you simply do not understand the Canadian way of doing business....
First you must obtain your inventory, free of course from all suppliers, including our firm.

Then get free shipping to your location....

Inventory the goods, register if firearms.... Make the sales, initiate new transfers, all done by your unpaid employees....

As for working only days a week, well I can tell you are "slacking off", what happened to the 7th day ? Do you expect to receive compensation for your work ??

Now you dare to seek a return on your investment ?? Shame on you
since everything was free, how dare you charge for it....

"To make matters worse our competition charges $700.00 for the Norinco M-14S (aka. 'M-305') - three hundred dollars MORE per rifle"
