New Norinco M14s and cast receivers?

Has anyone done any hardness testing on those cast receivers?
I see dents and impact deformations which lead me to believe they may not be heat treated, and very soft.

I just received an m305 (in 7.62x39) from Eagle Hunting Supplies and believe I got a cast receiver with a forged bolt. Would someone mind confirming my rather uninformed suspicions? I do not see the dots on the bottom of the bolt. Appears to be November 2016 manufacture?

I don't know about the receiver numbers, but the numbers & letters after your serial # A161694-16-356-CN 16 CA according to M14 Forum experts represent:
16= year of manufacturing
356= Manufacturer (state Arsenal 356) Kunming Yunan Province
CN= China
16= Year of Import
CA= Imported legally to Canada

I hope that helps a bit.

I recently had a cast bolt fail on me,, but I won't say it was a quality issue as I was running some real hot handload .308 palma rounds i had in surplus. I found a local guy here in town and bought his complete parts kit just for the bolt. So now I have a bunch of spare gwar incase I break anorher other little parts.

Not that I know of, but dents and deformations on Chinese receivers are typically done due to careless handling of the parts before heat treating them. After heat treatment, receivers are much more damage resistant.
