New Norinco M305 malfunctionned.

I was just going to reply to a couple posts, but it hard to do that on mobile device.... So here it goes!

1st, as previously stated its either a "slam fire" or a bump fire. A slam fire happens when either the firing pin jams in a forward position or the hammer follows the bolt home. Both are correctable with a bit on tuning. What would have me concerned is if the firing pin stuck in the forward position.... This would mean a fundamental problem with the safety bridge. A bump fire happens when you twitch your finger while the rifle is recoiling and you are holding the rifle loosely. That is easy to correct, as it only mental. Hold the rifle firmly to the shoulder and when you pull the trigger hold it firmly to the rear until you are prepared to conscienciously release it and then repeat.

2nd, Federal blue box 150gr is pretty much the only commercial hunting ammo I will use in a M-14/M1A/M305/Poly rifle. In fact I do almost all of my accuracy testing on builds and customer rifles with Federal Blue Box 150 gr ammo. I do not reccomend using any commercial ammo heavier than 150gr in one of these rifles.

3rd, read the stickies at the top of this forum. Do the safety tests and checks. Head over to YouTube and subscribe to tonyben3 he has video of the safety checks (how to), cleaning and lubing and soup to nuts building of these rifles. You will be well served and much better educated on the platform once you do so.

If you have any questions or queries, feel free to PM/email.

Hello, I am new to this fourm and the M305 is my first gun. Went out shooting today, shot 2 rounds and the others came out in a 3 rd burst. Fired another 40 rds after and no issues. Is this something to be concerned about? It is a brand new rifle.

Out of curiosity, what is your location? If you are in the Fraser valley I will take a look at it.

It is most likely a firing pin problem...if the gun is brand new, it will have heavy grease inside the firing pin channel which will cause the pin to stick in the forward position. You might be able to solve this by simply putting the bolt into a pan of varsol overnight to dissolve the grease, if you don't want to pull the firing pin out of the bolt.

were you holding it firmly?

This is not a slight at your manliness, but a necessity with most self-loading firearms. Newton's laws cannot be defied. If you don't provide a reasonable resistance force for the recoil, the parts will not function as designed.

Read the stickies watch tonyben3 vids on youtube and get the rifle nice and clean, if it was brand new out of the box it probably just needs a good cleaning and greasing.
