Hey All,

I was feeling that itch again so I started cruising the exchange and came across this pistol at Armco's. Here's what he did to it:
Norinco/Para-Ordnance custom .45. This one has been tightened and lapped, barrel custom-fitted, has an STI adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front, match hammer, trigger and sear with a lovely crisp 3 1/2 lb pull, Pachmayr grips, FL guide rod, stainless match barrel and bushing.
First off, it certainly does not feel like any other Norc I've fired so I can see why guys are always talking about Gunnar and his work! Top notch!!

That Para slide is a P14 and I'm pretty sure its only offered in stainless, when I realized that I cringed inside! Am I right?? If so I see a project down the road! It also came with 3 Novak's mags.

So at the range I had a problem right away with Remington UMC 230gr MC, it wouldn't feed and jammed the slide and mag. It ate my home made loads like a hungry pig though!! Accurate as hell! Another downside, somehow, I believe it was my son, managed to lose the fibre optic sight...bummer! Of course I didn't notice until a couple of days later when I pulled the gun out to figure out what the problem was with the ammo.
Long story short, its the mags. I can only put a max of 3 bullets of the above mentioned ammo in the Novak's or the spring will not be able to push them up properly. The McCormick I bought from Brownell's I can put in 4 bullets before the same problem. Following that regime and the gun will cycle normally. Anyone else run into a problem like this with mags and heavier bullets??

Austen, I love project guns. I went the other route. How so? I traded a 4" Nickel S&W M34 for a Para 14 kit with a WWII Remington slide. I ended up taking the slide off and using a WWII US Government replacement slide on the Para kit frame. The WWII US Government replacement slide has adjustable sights and I also used a Storm Lake barrel from E-Bay. The end result is a tack driver. Regards, Richard:)

These are the Two pistols I ended up with:

Richard, those look pretty nice! Project guns are definitively fun!

I was talking to Para today, the P14 is stainless but they do offer an array of finishes over the stainless. I actually should have known that.

I have a new fibre optic sight and stainless grip screws coming from Fusion so I'm already on the slippery slope!!
