New Norinco Type 97

Seriously, no one is going to make a new rifle. All they need to do is redesigning certain dimensions within the receiver, and strategically leaving metal in places so people cannot add parts to make it go FA .

This is no different from an ar15. You cannot physically put FA fire control parts into an ar 15 receiver.

Greentips is right. It is 'technically' a new rifle and they are playing on that. They are calling it a completely different design in order to prevent prohibition IMO.

So since you gentlemen are the official importer for these rifles, and been the ones redesigning them with norinco, can you comment on the quality of these rifles?

are they going to be mil-spec chinese, or high school shop class projects?

whats the twist rate of the barrel, and are they chrome lined?

Just salivating for some more info thats all, and any little tid bit would be appreciated

alright this has opened up more questions than answers.

Will this new t97nsr be even a qbz95/t97 pattern rifle? Or is this brand new rifle designed based off the already legal qbu88?

If the new rifle is based off the legal qbu88, is it essentially a qbu88 chopped down down to 19inches, with stanag mag well, flat top upper, side charging handle?

If it is neither, and if it is indeed a brand new design altogether, is this rifle even a t97 anymore?

What we want to know is, are we receiving a qbz95 type rifle or not? Or it is a shorter qbu88 but renamed as a t97nrs? Or is it a brand new rifle that does not resemble the qbz95 or qbu88 altogether but marketed as a t97?

x2!

These rifles were shown in a photo in the North Silva booking show last week end and if dealer reaction is worth anything I would suspect the entire production was sold out at the show (I know we bought a large amount). I think everyone needs to be a little patient and wait for North Sylva to respond with additional info. By the way, this was the best dealer show we attended in the last three weeks (Montreal, Las Vegas and Toronto). At the opening of the show dealers were literally running over each other to get to the best deals first (Dianne might not be the fastest one but she got to the booths that mattered first). Thanks again North Sylva for this gun and other hard to find guns you are bringing in. Phil.

I think Diane tried to trample me at the TNW booth :) Great seeing you guys there.

If you guys want, I could dig more pics out.

BUT, the way it mounts........really really really sucks. Perfect head shot position.

Hi North Sylva,

I am not sure if you divulge this information or not but would you be able to list the vendors that have placed orders for your rifle so we can pursuit pre-orders? I placed one with Canam thinking they would be getting stock, but it may still be the pre-order for the 800 rifles seized by CBSA.

So Far I know of:

Frontier Firearms
SFRC
P&D
Wanstalls
Wolverine Supplies
