I just ordered an NP-29 from Marstar.

I plan on doing all of the improvements on this pistol myself as a fun learning exercise.

What are the basics mods, parts and tools that I will require to get the pistol reliable and accurate for target shooting 9mm ball and JHP's?

I'm thinking, polish feed ramps, enlarge ejection port (if necessary), stone action to improve trigger, replace sights (suggestions please), replace grips (suggestions please), de-activate magazine safety, replace magazine release, slide release and safety.

Basically I'd like to make this into a fun, reliable, accurate shooter. I don't plan on going into IPSC.

I already have a GLOCK 17 but I'm hankering for a 1911 with a good single action trigger.

Any advice or suggestions along with parts vendors wll be greatly apprecaited.

Sight change is the most important. Get a front sight that is higher than stock, it must be a narrow tenon sight to fit in the Norinco slot. I bought a used Novak rear (the carry one not the big one) and for $35 total had new sights. The rear one is knocked out to the right with a brass drift but you will need a staking tool for the front one; my buddy had a Millet one and it worked great. I also replaced the slide lock with a Wilson part (.38 super/9mm) and thats all I did to mine.

There is no mag safety to disable, and I would be careful about enlarging or polishing anything till you have shot it a bit.

1. Novak Sights
2. Trigger job (by a professional)
3. Hi Grip Beavertail
4. Ambi safety
5. Mag release

i would get these in that order...no need for a new slide release as you rarely use it...
