new offering?WWII SOVIET SVT40 SEMI AUTOMATIC

Milarm $550
Trade Ex $429
Ellwood Epps $399

These are really nice collectable rifles, even if they are refurbished postwar.

Better than an Norc 305!

These rifles saw a lot of use on the eastern front in WWII, and were used in large numbers by both sides.

I bought a 1941 Tula a few years ago from P&S. I've heard comments that they are innacurate, but I must have lucked out.

I took the SVt-40 to the OSA fun match last year. I used it in the same class as all the Norinco M14's, and I won the class as well as each match in that class. Not bad for a 66 year old rifle!
It was surprisingly accurate and in spite of its light weight, the recoil was softer than most .30 cal milsurp semi's that I have shot (even others that have a muzzle brake), so it was pleasant to shoot in rapid fire. I'm guessing this is probably due to the design of the recoil spring.

P&S - $450 - $650

I am assuming that these all came in the same shipment no? so condition across these dealers should not vary much???

Nice guns, a bit of a chore to clean. I have a trick to make it easier though...

I have one. Mine chews up brass. Some are easy on brass, some are really rough.

Just got one from Trade Ex.
Very prompt shipping, and really good condition. I guess that makes sense if it was refurbished, then put away and not used again.
I am looking forward to warming it up some.

I did pull it all apart to get all the oil out of it. It is a bit of a pig to dis-assemble, but the guide on SurplusRifle.com helped out.

Speaking of ammo, do these rifles operate OK on the lighter (148g) hungarian ball that was on the market last year?
I was told they prefer the heavier stuff, but I only stashed away light ammo.
Thanks

That 7.62x54 - isit reload friendly? What kind of components will it take, primers and such? Accuracy - can someon elaborate please. Anything under 2MOA? Are they "scopeable"? I mean without major 'smith work? How badly barrels worn?

The SVT gas system is adjustable.
Mine worked well with the Czech silver tipped ball, which I believe is also light ball. The Hungarian heavy ball was designed for use in the Maxim machine guns.

These are great rifles, they shoot well and function great. The chambers are fluted and can be hard on brass and sometimes the stocks can be worn. other than that, awesome... Also, these rifles are the grand father of the FAL.

The 150g fedeal stuff cycles just fine, and still throws the brass 6' or so to the the right.

ALso, some of these rifles, those made pre '43 I believe, were cut to accept a military issue scope base. THey can be had in repro form from trade ex, which means these rifles are scopable without ruining it.

They can be scoped only if the y have the groove accross the reciever for the locking pin ,quite a few (not all) have the grooves parallel to the receiver but very few have the groove accross for the locking mech .
great rifles I have 3

is it electro-penciled? if not, do the serial #'s match?
how's the bore and rifling?
