New, old .260 mtn rifle

43gr H4350 was my 130gr TSX load, 2800-2850 fps avg for me. Killed a wt and a muley with it, it was lightning

Ive been mainly handloading 140gr Nosler Partitions and Hornady Interlocks over 46grs H4831sc in the Ti. This year I'm gonna try the new 100gr TTSX, over Varget. We`ll see how it goes but I bet 43grs will get me 3200ish fps and good accuracy :)

This past year I shot 120gr TTSX over 49grs H4831sc in my Gaillard barrel 260. 2975-3000 fps and stupid accurate out to 1/4 mile

Nice rig Steve! I am glad I didn't have to go that far to get mine together :)

What does it weigh?

I had previously weighed it at 6.9Lbs with my trusty digital fish scale, I weighed it again today and I got 6.6Lbs. So I figure somewhere in between!;)

Well my 260 is not a fancy Remington light weight, but I like it. It has more plastic than most like but it goes about 7.5lbs and wears a little 4.5-14x32 Burris. She shoots 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups at 100m all day if I do my part.

For hand loads I have tried 140gr Bergers with 39.5grs of H4350 and 140gr A-Max with 43.5grs of RL-19. That is supposed to be the Berger hunting bullet but I think I'll stick with either a Accubond, Partition or TTSX.
For hunting I was using 120gr TTSX with 45.5grs RL-19.

By the way all the rifle pictures are real beauties!

Very nice. Similar to mine but I had to do mine the hard way. Couldn't find a stainless .260Rem anywhere so I had one put together. Started with a brand new stainless SPS in .243Win and a take off .260Rem Mountain barrel from EE. Had Rembo remove the .243 and install the .260. Rembo also beadblast the whole thing to match the SPS and "regular" Rem finish of the barrel. Bedded in a Ti take off stock. Talley LW and a Leupold VXII 2-7x33. Got two muley buck so far with it. Love it.

Yeah, that .260 project turned out real nice Steve.

Guess, I should've kept that .260 barrel for a similar project for myself afterall... ;) :D :p

All that's left is to have my Darling Bride break that in on her Ewe. I know how you hate to put the first scratch in a new toy. She can do it with ease and never even notice.......

Looks good Dave. Nice work on that bolt.

Thanks Noel! She is more than welcome to it when the time comes, but I wanna be there to watch the action!
