I hope that someone can provide some suggestions where I can look for some parts for my new projects on some old Savages.

I have a Savage Model 20 in .250 Savage and I am looking for a side mount.

I also have a Savage model 40 in .30-06 and would like to find another stock and a factory receiver sight.

Any help is appreciated
 
I checked the Boyds catalog, no model 40 repro's listed, gonna be tough finding one, might get lucky if you keep watching Fleabay.

If you've got access to a couple old gunsmiths that don't sell all their pieces and parts off ask if they've got an old Lyman #40 peep sight, it was made for the model 40 and 45.
 
sir shows the savage 20 as taking a weaver # 1 side mount, but warns of a bolt clearance problem, which means your bolt handle may have to be heated and forged to clear the scope. numrich/GPC shows a savage mod.40 peep sight assembly item #714670 and stock , item# 45-708NS. the stock is shown and nubered in the schematic but not listed below with a price.www.e-GUNPARTS.com
