Prior to new changes in 2012 all I needed was my outdoors card with my license stickers attached, and a game seal for the particular game I was after, or in most cases with small game nothing more than the card with sticker was even necessary.

Now look what I have to carry around with me!(blurred on purpose ;))

There is a small game card, a deer license, a deer seal, a bear license, a bear seal, a controlled shotgun hunt card for deer, a fishing card, plus my PAL, and for some reason I believe you still have to carry your outdoors card, and don't forget I still don't have my migratory game bird stamp.......

Why I need my outdoors card now is beyond me, when the licenses are no longer attached to it, and the license cards all have the outdoors card number anyways. All just a friggin money grab if you ask me!

FML, I don't understand how this is easier, or more efficient at all. Keeping track of a single card, a couple game seals, and my PAL, was a hell of alot easier. Not to mention the deer seals are no longer handed out in store, and they have to mail them to you. Thats gotta cost them for the postage.

Another Ontario Beurocrat FAIL of an idea!!!

Sorry just needed to rant a little. Carry on........

If the new seal is to much trouble quite hunting, doesn't seem to be that complicated!!

It's not the seal that is the issue, it's more the licenses themselves. Prior they were all stuck on the back of the outdoors card, now I have to carry the outdoors card, and the new license. Why?

It's not that it is even complicated, just makes absolutely no sense.

But your comments come across like your just being a smart ass so no sense explaining I guess......

Or better, keep hunting just quit paying for something that should be free. You as a hunter are providing a very valuable service to the queen in controlling her wildlife against the destruction of crops.

As a side note my wallet is full of useless government cards also.

I got my deer seal over the counter.. But I agree. This whole system is ridiculous. I'm surprised you didn't mention that these licenses are now being supplied by an American company. I forget which state.

Bingo just stirring up ****!!!!!When we developed the new tag system the two piece license was the only way we could go,the software was developed from the labeling software at a window manufacturer.

My group got pulled over by an MNR/OPP truck (black unmarked ford) near Kirkland Lake on our way home from our annual trip. The guys were great about the entire thing, checking tags on all of the moose, etc. The MNR guy asked for our outdoors card and the license that was attached to our tags. He went on to say that were two different types of license and tag sets mailed out. When I dropped in to look at my brother's bull, he had the small plastic tag with two holes in it for the string/tie wrap to go through, mine was a paper/tyvek tag that was similar to the ones before. The MNR guy said that this was the biggest F up he had ever seen. He said that some of the smaller plastic tags had the holes punched through the WMU # and they couldn't tell where the tags were for. They won't change it though because then they would have to admit they made a mistake. Happy hunting all.

ok, so if these are new tags then why are their two different types of tags. Shouldn't they be all the same, why do some have the sticky backing like the old ones (which worked fine) and the others have the stupid two holes, which are useless if you don't have anything to tie them on with. They could at least supply you with a means to attach the tag ei. zip tie.

My bear tag did come with a zip tie.
BTW zip ties are a PIA to pack around. They don't fit well in the wallet, don't stay put in the pocket either.
I think the system sucks, and is also very poorly designed from the standpoint of someone wanting to re-use the tag. The sticky tags were better. Best was when they gave you a wire with them.

Be sure you detach your license portion from your seal portion when sealing the animal (the big version of the tag). Guy at my camp attached the whole deal to his calf last week and had to carefully detach the license portion post tagging. Not easy.

And be sure you dont get any blood on it. It wont stick together.
