I would agree. However, one here who likes call people out doesn't even have great old ones.
Nice to have you be able to make value judgements on both the way I live my life and the way I spend my money without any real knowledge of who I am, my commitments or obligations.
There is no doubt that a couple of my rifles are not great.
The Carcano is a tomato stake and I'm going to have one last ditch attempt to get it right and then rid myself of it.
The sporterised K98 is also less than wonderful but it was all I could afford and it will soon have some serious work as well as a Timney trigger.
But both of the Martinis, the 25-20 and the Hornet, are superb rifles.
The 25-20 has a super light trigger and put 5 flat points into 0.77" off the bench at 100yds and rains merry hell on rabbits and hares.
The Hornet is also a lovely piece.
My 303/25 is less than wonderful in most ways.....the stock is a cut down mil affair, the scope is old and dinged, and yet it has successfully put down more game than any other rifle I own with the possible exception of the Anschutz .22.
While I watched other people have different issues with their new rifles it got bumped and knocked about and then nailed stuff no problems.
Would I like a locker full of classic Mausers and sporting Martinis and doubles......yup, but that aint gonna happen.
I'm a school teacher and I don't get paid for the many hours I work after the bell goes at the end of the day.
I also refuse to spend more time away from my wife and 3 little boys so the contents of my safe can measure up to people like you so I guess I'm have to be satisfied with what I have.
Besides an extra job would be cutting into potential hunting time......or should I have the fanciest gear but never get to use it?
I thought the whole idea of hunting was finding a winning combination and using it, not ragging on someone cause they thought they were crap.
I apologise for heading off thread here but I really think that sort of attitude is the outside of enough.
I have NEVER criticised anyone here for their choice of rifle or their choice of trophy or method of hunting.
Rather, as an international member I've tried to be a polite as possible and take from this what I can while adding things I thought people might find interesting.
Whatever your problem with me is, mackillan, get over it.
I haven't ever criticised you in past and have no issue with whichever way you may run your life.
Do me the same courtesy.
