Just purchased my first handgun, the Sig Sauer Mosquito 22lr. Now the wait begins for the att here in Winnipeg.
Looked at the pros/cons between a GSG 1911 and this pistol but the deciding factor was the pistol grip. For the life of me my thumb could not reach the mag release on the 1911.

Any hoo.... can't wait to take it on a test drive. :dancingbanana:

Congratulations on the new gun...the first one is always special, how about doing a range report (with Pictures)when it shows up???

The Mosquito was my first pistol too, I still have it, nice gun but needed some work to run reliably, mainly polishing the feed ramp. I also had the barrel cut to 106mm, it looks much better now.

Reliability was mentioned alot in my research and like you mentioned a little tlc will be needed. Before shooting it a good and thorough cleaning and oiling will be the order of the day.

I was surprised that the transfer was done in less than 12hrs, this was great but I had to work and will be picking on Tuesday.....

Great first pistol, it was actually my second after a Sig P226 in 9mm. My kids love shooting it, and after about 4000 rds down it, it cycles and feeds flawlessly with either Federal bulk or CCI Blaser. I liked it so much, I actually just bought one with the 'hot pink' frame, because my 4 girls loved it (and this way I can shoot mine once in a while too). Get yourself some extra mags, makes plinking more enjoyable, and as mentioned, polish the feedramp. Also, keep it nice an oily, seems to really help. Good choice on a first pistol in my opinion, the Mosquito has a bad reputation with some, but I have never had a single issue. I actually had another that I sold to a good friend of mine, so I guess I'm going on my 3rd now. I initially bought it to teach my kid's the controls of the Sig (other than the safety, and the mag safety which I don't like), they are virtually identical to any of the other Sigs, so it is a great training gun to practice on without blowing through a lot of centerfire ammo (which I do anyway!). TC

Well I was able to get to the range today and shoot the mosquito. Worked great with the CCI mini-mags and to my surprise it loved the Federal Bulk Champion. Two miss fires from the CCI and two FTE from the federal. Fired 100 rnd of the CCI and 50 rounds of the Federal.

click on the photo to enlarge it.

This target was from the 7 meter distance and thought I did pretty good considering I never shot this pistol before.

They love lot's of oil, at least mine does and it will shoot anything from subs to mini mags. Only thing I hate about mine is the weird ass trigger pull on the first shot, besides that love it.

I tried a couple of rounds in DA and then opted for shooting in SA which worked better for me. The trigger pull in DA is nasty but overall I really enjoyed shooting this pistol.
