What's wrong with the Russian and Chinese models ? you must know something about them that nobody else knows ? it's not a buyers market now it's a sellers market . buy what you can afford and don't turn you nose up at the rifles you have stated you would like to avoid. good luck .
I asked because I know exactly where to buy Russian and Chinese variants. At no point did I "turn my nose up" toward anything. You're placing your bias onto someone else's words.
then get a M57
should have shot a TT33 - most of mine are pretty good (38,39,41,44,45,46,51) and really depended on the either prewar. war or post.
Tell you what if I can I'll rent an example out and give it another go. I'd much rather be proven wrong than right in this matter.
and remember as a pistols goes - you can buy the TT33 or M57 for under $300 (closer to $200), and that will result in you hunting for other things that shoot 7.62x25 (rumoured Alpha pro revolver or 1911s)
Don't forget the SKS's Smurfette the CZ 527 in 7.62x39.....

Yeah I have been interested in one for some time. Not sure about it though. Accuracy is ok but no more. Given the cost and accuracy of .223 I lean more towards that one.
Why only have one...get both...in fact fet all the common calibres whenever they are a good buy because eventually you'll have something in all the calibres soon. Whenever 22lr is a good buy just buy some as well. Stay away from aluminum 9mm that was a mistake on my part I will never repeat. At least not6was damaged.
Personally for the cost of surplus if your going to shoot your rifle and sometimes be in a rush the Barnaul is the best non corrosive ammo for the price that I have used so far. It shoots great groups from the CZ and at least 3 inch or better groups with the SKS'S . Essentially a 40% premium for no corrosive.

If looking for nice looking shooters, I’d go for only Russian and Yugoslavia made SKS. I’ve had Chinese Norinco SKS D but did not like the finish and stock, so sold it when the Russians arrived in huge numbers in 2009. Perhaps Chinese military SKS is better than my D in that regard.
The Yugo is finely made and I like the teakwood stock. Heavy, strong and will last long long time. Mine is the grenade launcher type. I prefer the Yugo model without launcher. Downside is bore isn’t chrome lined so shoot only non corrosive ammo or bring spray gun oil to the range to spray the bore, bolt, and everything metal inside and out.

So you just sleep laying on top of them? Personally, I like to cradle them in my arms as we sleep.
