New PDW Stock

I'm not so sure - we always talk about cheek weld and the importance of consistency, the main issue with repeating cheek weld is moving back on the stock. This thing locks you into 1 position. By bracing off the chin, your cheek weld on the receiver extension is identical every time you mount the rifle. This holds the sights in the same position relative to your eyes, as long as you're using a dot, you're golden. As far as recoil goes, it's an AR, there is no recoil. I wouldn't volunteer to try it on my 12.5" 870 though. I think it would work better on an A2 stock for long range accuracy.

From a technical standpoint, it's a clever idea.

But, yeah, I don't think you're jaw is going to appreciate it in the long run. or your neck, or your teeth if they are caused to grind.

The shoulder is a load baring joint, the jaw is not.

Yeah, there's a bit more to it than paying the $200 tax. You have to get your chief LEO to sign off, get fingerprinted, send the form in to the Feds with a passport photo. Then there are specific laws as to how the SBR can be kept, who can have possession of it. A SBR cannot be taken across state lines without Fed permission. You need to keep a copy of the stamp with you whenever you leave the house with the SBR.

For you guys this may all not seem to be that big a deal. Keep in mind for us this is VERY different than buying a plain Jane rifle or pistol. As long as the barrel is 16" or longer AR-15s can and are sold in WalMart. The barrel can be shorter but the weapon needs to be configured to be a pistol. Rifles and pistols are easy. A SBR by contrast is a PITA.

All that said, the cheek attachment thing in this thread looks to be a big POS.

I still think I'd rather pay the $200 and jump through the hoops then look like a complete and total dork at the range. ;)
 
I have a terrible habit of looking like a dork at the range :(

I find it really interesting how this guy has responded to a huge number of people calling his product out as being fairly retarded (or niche if you want to be gentle) by doing a sort of campy low production value field test of "here look it really works."

I wonder how much success he'll actually have. The US loves weird ####. I think the slide-fire stock is evidence enough of that.

Too bad it's not under $100 or we could import one to poke fun at. I like how in one of the videos he draws a comparison between a full-length AR and a PDW, and then asks the woman holding it which is more comfortable to shoot. Doh... the lighter one is easily going to be easier to hold.

Can I get a slide-fire stock for my Tavor for rattlesnake defense? ;)

I never liked the carbines as pistols concept. I still look funny at the robinson arms pistols, but as long as they get me 10 round mags then I'm happy with them.
