I recently purchased a new Pedersoli 1859 military Sharps, 45/70 cartridge model. This is a copy of the civil war era rifle, with the three bands on the round barrel, and a patch box on the butt. It is also made as a percussion rifle using paper cartridges, but i already had all the loading stuff for 45/70. I am very pleased with the quality of the gun , the fit and finish is excellant! Color case hardening very nice. The rifle is two pounds lighter and the barrel is two inches shorter than the other silouttee model i have. This makes it really easy to hold up . It has a standard blade front sight and the adjustable military ladder style rear sight. I had the day off work yesterday and loaded up 125 rounds of 45/70. Can`t wait to get out to the range.

1863 Sharps Carbine

Hey Pete,

I own an original 1863 Sharps Carbine, that was reworked into a .50-70 after the US Civil War. During its life time it was rechambered to .577 2 3/4 with a huge 1.5 inch forcing cone, so I had the original barrel taken off and a .577 Snider Enfield barrel put on, that way I can use the Snider cartridge and use the original extractor that is already there. I have not had the chance to shoot it yet, but hopefully soon.
