My wife let her chickens out of the coop into the run earlier than usual this morning. The immature roosters in the flock all try their hilarious renditions of cockle-doodle-doo's and usually gets rounds of laughter of anyone within hearing. This morning though, their attemps at crowing brought more than just giggles. Our Austrailian Shepard/Border Collie cross pup (10 mon.) started barking with an urgency that had us jumping out of bed at 5:30am. My wife quickly spotted the target of our dog's frenzied barking, a coyote in the freshly cut hayfield behind the coop. I grabbed my M700 .223, poked it out the back door and sent him into a death spin with a 50gr HP, then quickly followed up with two more before he called it quits. Tough customer. Turned out to be a large healthy male that came to the call of the immature roosters looking to add some KFC to his diet. And Mylo the pup got a couple extra treats this morning for his part in protecting the flock

OK Wes, just because you asked so nicely...

Here's a picture of a dead coyote. Wes wanted pic's so I drove to the back end of the field where I dumped the coyote and dragged him back into the field to pose for Uncle Wes! :D

The white bag shows where the coyote spun & croaked when I shot from the back door in the back ground...
