New - PreOwned Firearms Warranty?

I've noticed quite a few NIB firearms up for sale recently, presumably picked up at Wholesale Sports' closing sale. Some of these firearms seem to be listed at incredibly good prices.

Just curious about how things would work for warranty purposes. Since I would technically be the 2nd owner and purchasing a 'pre-owned' firearm even though it isn't necessarily a used one. Would the firearm be covered under manufacturers warranty for manufacturing defects or other issues/failures?

Anyone have experience with warranty services when with a gun not purchased new with receipt from a store?

ps I'm looking for a sub $500 .223, any suggestions?

I suggest if you are buying something "NIB, unfired" ask the seller if they have the original purchase receipt and if they don't mind passing it on. They may be reluctant to let you see if they made a profit, so I would tell them first I am buying it for a price I am willing to pay for what I am getting and I know and accept that they might have got it for less and I just want to be able to avail myself of warranty if there is a defect, which they will not have discovered because the gun is "NIB, unfired."

Great suggestion! Thanks.

Of the (major mfg's) I know first hand that Henry, Ruger and Weatherby don't care about first, second or fifth owner - they will fix it if they believe it was caused by something they did.

Browning and Winchester don't specify any warranty at all - it's a "use an authorized repair place and we will make a decision" but they do specify there is "no lifetime warranty" (or any warranty for that matter).

Savage is "original owner" with proof of purchase. Ditto Mossberg and Remington. Buy one of these "used" even if it's NIB you are assuming the hit to your pocket if there is an "out of the box" issue. Only you can decide "what discount" if any should apply to the asking price for taking that chance.

I recently bought a rifle as new and registered it online.
No idea what would be the outcome if a used rifle was registered or re-registered.
A new scope will often have an instruction that issues should be referred to the manufacturer . . . "DO NOT RETURN TO THE DEALER".
All LGS get scopes brought back for a variety of reasons many being user inexperience.
A 22 was brought back to the LGS as ammunition would not chamber. Pushed the empty out and problem solved.
