I am new to reloading and just finished loading my first 100 rounds of 9mm ammo.
I used sellier and bellot pistol primers
Win 231 powder - 4.0 gr.
Once fired win brass
.355 124gr. Copper plated RN bullets (Aim)
C.O.A.L 1.092 inch
Taper crimp (there was a very light imprint around the cases at the level where the bullet was seated, very faint, but enough to bend the light such that I can see it. Is this normal? No imprint on the plated bullets....i pulled some out to check.
I went to the range and had only one misfire...wouldnt fire on second try either so it must have been a bad primer. The 4.0gr load is a light starting load and shot as such (very low recoil and cases landing a foot behind me). Zero issues feeding or ejecting.
So what is the problem? All the primers are cratered and 6 had black residue in the dimple. Other than this the load is light and accurate and performs.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
