New Product Alert: Ruger PC Carbine barrels

Are you still shipping within 12-16 weeks for backorders?

To the best of my knowledge that it still the situation. We've had a good number of blanks come in recently which is keeping us right on the edge of that, but it is possible that some orders may be slightly over.

Following-up in hopes of good news.. emails have gone unanswered as well.

Any change on timing of backorders for the barrels?

Can you PM me your email address that you're sending from so I can take a look at ? Thanks.

Yes, ordered it on 26 January and received for my birthday on 2 aug. Ive got the 7 inch barrel with threaded + fluted + cerakote. The finish of this barrel is excellent! Ive got the custom atrs barrel mounting kit. Not yet received the midwest industries hand guard but should not be so long I hope. Here's some pics.

Really love this setup. What chassis is this. I'd like to build this exact setup?

On monday got to handle while in town stopped at their shop. The fit and finish is great and lockup to the firearm is perfect. The new colab CF hand guard is far nicer than I first thought and super light.

If I got off my arse and read some of these threads I would be a hwole lot wealthier. I am down a rabbit hope with an FX9 so it may be before Xmas that my gun account and wife's memory will be such that my PCC could transition into a 10" model. I have the 10" upper on my FX9 and it works great for IDPA CCS Division here in Canada. Unfortunately I can't go to the US with the 10" barrel to compete so my reasons for the 10" here is ...well just because.

I am not sure having the handguard extend past the muzzle is a good idea.- see post 98. The chance of removing digits when shooting fast might be greater than you think. Most folks I see use a guard to prevent extending the hand past the muzzle even when the forearm is shorter than the barrel. This may not be a concern for those who never make a mistake but for some of us Murphy reigns ie "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong"

Product is a game changer up here for certain. I'll be placing an order sometime in January for the 10" I know guys is the US that will be all over this like a dirty short if they want to spend $250 for a stamp and wait for at least 6 to 10 months for approval. Unfortunately the SBR stamp option is not available to aliens from Canada.

Bob, the pic you are referencing was to show the 7" barrel in the Magpul fore end as there was some confusion early on when ATRS posted a 9" (I think) and people thought that was the offered 7". I don't believe anyone would intentionally run that setup.

I have been curious if ATRS has had any interest south of the border. I imagine most down there would just SBR stamp a PC charger and stick a brace on it.

I would hope not but that said Murphy lives in all of us. One cannot rule out what some think is "cool".

The ATF is the US has recently ruled the use of a brace now turns the handgun into a SBR. I understand ths action is being challenged in court. Individuals apparently have a date certain to apply for the stamp. I would think given the firearm choices they have in the US the Ruger may not have the attraction for the shorter barrel that it has up here. IDPA has, at least in one area ruled the use of a brace etc is not allowed in IDPA. I have not read the ruling but from what I hear PCC is dominated by "carbines" with barrel lengths of 16" which is the equivalent of our 18" rule. I do not know what thr USPSA rule is. I understand the use of braced or kited pistols is allowed in IPSC. I have a Kidon kit that I may use for a local IPSC club match mated with my S&W M&P Pro. I don't qualify for a US SBR Stamp so the shorter barrel is of interest for use only in Canada for me.

(Aa n aside it should be noted both countries at one time used 18" as their minimum barrel length to define a rifle. The UA changed theirs to accommodate the sale of M1 carbines when they became surplus items to the US Armed Forces. This facilitated their sale to the general public. Quite the contrast to what we might find in Canada.)

Using the shorter barrel while hiking would as we all know is illegal in Canada as the firearm would be considered "restricted". If by chance you were to be caught you would risk the loss of your PAL as well as your firearm. I think we all know that. I guess it becomes a personal decision. The question I would ask, living where I do is, other than having a gun to shoot while on a hiking trip, what other use would you have for a 9MM. Personally if it was was to take say a rabbit for supper my choice would be a .22LR and those can be had with short barrels in very light packages and be legal (varies from province to province). If it were for "protection" a shotgun would be a better choice for both gathering of food and for self defense. A larger caliber rifle would be better for self defense than the 9MM but not much good for taking a rabbit.

For playing PCC if allowed in the sport you shoot the shorter barrel has a certain attraction. The downside would be making power factor which for IDPA is 135. It is easy done would handloading but might be rather expensive if buying factory rounds. My handgun loads run around 130 ish PF . I have not chroned rounds out of my 10" upper but I think I might need a bit more powder to consistently make 135 PF for PCC Division in IDPA. I have not done enough research yet to decide whether going down the PCC rabbit hole is going to hold my interest. My bet is it will.

This purchase has to wait in line. I have my eye on a GSR 15 for playing rimfire with my buddy John R. in Pr. George. I have been practicing John.....

Funny how some of our laws aren't as dumb like barrel length on Rimfire or manual action CF or like shipping direct to buyer and not an FFL like they must. Everything else though is full retard up here.
I wish we'd have follower suit on the 16.5" change, would have opened the door to a lot more options in the semiauto dept.

Looks like Ruger chassis with someone else's armbrace.
I'm more curious about the muzzle device :)

It's indeed the original chassis with the midwest industries folding stock "Midwest Industries, Picatinny Side Folder, Light Weight Stock". With this I've put the Holosun HS510C optic with the HM3X magnifier. For the muzzle device, it’s a fake can, you know, just for the look.
