New Product Alert: Stretching the limits on PARs

How do the Faxon barrels compare to the Lilja barrels for accuracy? I have one of your AR uppers with a Lilja and it was great when I could still take it out.
I've had good luck with them, but only expect them to be around 1 moa approximately. The lilja's are literally taking benchrest barrels and sticking them on semi-autos and plinkers... like sticking a V12 in your honda Civic. ;) Doesn't mean it isn't fun tho...

I can highly recommend a shortened PAR in .300 Blk. My home-built conversion to a 10.5" .300 Blk Barrel (with a shaved-down Gas Block reversed over the Gas Port) has worked perfectly as a dangerous wildlife defence carbine for the past several years. It is a lightweight, handy package that packs a .30 cal punch out to 400m with 150gr Supersonic rounds!

Does BC have a barrel length rule ? It's been a few years since I've read the BC regs but I don't recall anything about that. OAL is 26.5" for federal non restricted compliance.

Won't be coming out of this shop until a change of laws. I'm confident if we made a single shot 22lr, they'd classify it as a prohibited artillery piece.

300 Blackout is currently using Lilja stainless steel blanks we have on hand. Once we use up those blanks they'll all be Faxon nitrided barrels. 5.56/223 and 7.62 are Faxon. Depending on availability, we reserve the right to substitute other quality barrels in place. Specifically thinking if we ever get caught up on PC9 barrels, we can turn blanks ourselves.

It's possible, send an email to info@albertatacticalrifle.com if you want to pursue it.

7.62x39 AR mags.
Why is it 26.5”? I thought it is 26”?

Did you have to shave the gas block down for the pump to function?

Yes, I did. There is not a whole lot of clearance under the Pump Collar to fit a sufficiently sturdy Steel Collar around the .750" Gas Journal. If you.could find a thin steel collar the same diameter as the Gas Journal, that would be ideal. Otherwise, a low-profile gas block and a belt-grinder will eventually get you there.

Two things:
1: I hope that is not "fireable in it's shortest configuration by means of folding or collapsing". ;)
2: Looks like you really need a prettier pump on the front of that!

Why is it 26.5”? I thought it is 26”?
The regulations are 26" OAL. Add an extra half inch in case Cst Dogooder has a broken tape measure...
The same way your wife is satisfied with 6"... but deep down... you know she'd be happier with 6.5".... Gotta keep the "PoPo" happy ;-)

A strong picatinny rail on the bottom of that carbon fore-grip pump would make things...... easy.

Run it , bare or with covers, a semi handguard similar to what's shown or a short stubby vertical grip..... easy to configure as needed/wanted.

What's the lead time? I have a PAR that I've tried to get running right and never really been happy with. an x39 conversion might be just what it needs.

any issue with steel case ammo?

Trying to get an answer for this, the x39 specifically is more complicated from a logistics perspective.

No reason it should have any issues with steel case ammo, testing was done with 300 blackout steel case and had no problems.

I tried a straight-pull bolt action, not a PAR , in 7.62X39 and had extraction problems with surplus ammo. Lacquered cases seized up after 4 rounds and copper-washed ammo seized up after about 20. Do you have any suggestions for shooting surplus?

Each gun is it's own beast, I would take a close look at the chamber in that and see if it needs to be polished. I'm thinking possibly if it's a bit of a rough chamber, it's catching deposits of the lacquer or copper wash and tightening up ?

MY suggestions for shooting surplus ammo... is to not to ;)
But... I'm a snobby bolt gun shooter who handloads even my 223 with Lapua brass and Sierra Match Kings.
