New Product Announcement - 2 way radios

These look great. I'll be buying some once the accessories like the longer antennas and USB connection tors come it. Another great product from you guys!

I believe the CHIRP software can do what you are asking. It's much better than the Baofeng factory software. Just need a programming cable for it.

BTW great price CanAm, I don't think people can even get them direct from China for that price anymore.
 
Can am, when you get the cables, please ask for and share the latest drivers for them. I had a helluva time finding the right driver last time I programmed my radio and with a new computer, I am going to have to go through the process all over again.

Once that is sorted chirp works great.
 
Two-Way Radio Technician (BC) here, thought I would add my two cents. These technically are a HAM Radio if user programmable and require a license to operate. However, If you are going to operate these radios in the licensed VHF/UHF Bands take a moment to familiarize yourself with public use channels IE, General Mobile–to–Mobile Operations, Marine Channels, and Road Resources.

While you seem to know what you're talking about, I can just say that from my experience with them, I've seen one clearly communicate with the fd 12km(by road) away. Not hill to hill.

Oh wait.

It was the 8watt one, uv-5rtp, I guess that would make a difference.

They're forty friggin' dollars, for Heaven's sake. I pay that for a single lithium battery for one of the Kenwoods in my fleet.

As for the licensing? Pfftt.
I'm the idiot that's been paying fees for my frequencies and fleet for the last two decades, while my unlicensed competitors laugh at me.
Who got slapped in the last 20 years? Me.
I called the CRTC when someone was trampling on my FM transmit frequency (separate license) and their suggestion was to "Try a lower frequency." They did,however, decide that my FM antenna was too good (big) for my licensed coverage and took a pair of side-cutters to the cable.
So, I had to buy a new (smaller) antenna and a brand new cable, while my competitors continued to laugh...and broadcast on their own (unlicensed) FM transmitters.
F-em.

Get yourself some Baofeng goodness and don't believe anyone that claims big miles of coverage without a proper repeater, regardless of brand.
 
Guys, please keep the negative chit chat, etc to a minimum. I know we hams have strong opinions on unlicensed use, etc. Please take all philosophical discussions to the off-topic forum as this is a business forum.

Our goal is to sell a decent product at a good price; I think we have done that.

I returned to pat the guy(sorry, forgot your name) on the back who replied to me for the well written response. He was pretty positive about the product I thought.
 
Been dithering for several months now between Yaesu FT60R and Baofeng. Price is certainly a factor...Yaesu costs about 4 times as much as the Baofeng. Curious if there's a corresponding performance difference...anyone who has used both?

Do you have a solid inventory of these in-stock? I'm going to put a group order together for some guys I know. We already use these across our group, but some guys are wanting a secondary radio and a few newer guys don't have them yet (just have cheaper GMRS / FRS radios).

These are pretty cool radios. I don't have one yet, but a couple friends do. I'll certainly be looking to pick up a pair from you CanAm. Thanks for bringing them in. :D

Not in Grande Prairie they don't. One of the guys I know with a Baofeng is able to use it like a scanner and listens to the local RCMP/peace officers run calls. Some pretty entertaining stuff goes on in this town apparently.
