Seriously, having the same effect as a .223 is not the same as nothing. Your logic seems flawed.
My range forbids anything that sticks to a magnet no matter how much it's been tested. Simple rules but non-contestable.

its too bad the rule must exist. its clearly meant for steel core ammo. this is lead core so should be exempt, but there is no way to demonstrate this without pulling the bullet and cutting it in 2

I'm currently re-barreling a Savage to suit my specific wants for a 7.62x39 mm bolt action, so pretty soon I'll be set for mine, however...
I would like to say that there needs to be more options for decent quality factory 7.62x39 mm bolt actions. I was really looking hard at the CZ, but with it's short barrel and reportedly poor optics mounting options it just wasn't for me.
If anyone started selling a 7.62x39 mm bolt action with:
.310" bore
20" + barrel
Detachable mag
good quality : price ratio
I think you'd move them pretty quick.

I've always thought the savage axis would be a perfect candidate and I'm truly amazed this cartridge isn't offered in all the budget bolt actions.
Happy to say I ordered a case of the LCW HP so a big thanks to Canam! I might try for a case of FMJ in a month or so if the supply lasts, and maybe another SKS while I'm at it.
