Coming soon (Ambi Mag Releases - Pre-hardened 4140 Steel & Parkerized) ETA 10-12 days MSRP $55

We have a limited mumber of carriers back from this first batch, with a second batch to follow shortly. We opted to go with horizontal handle installation in order to be more compliant with some of the optics mounts and accessories coming on the market. I believe it to be a more appealing design ergonomically and visually. The design of the handles will resist snags more than the stock handle (no nub on the end to catch). The handle is also lighter than the factory handle while being slightly larger in physical size.

With the testing and improvements we've made to this design over the last year I believe that we have a real nice product, that will aid shooters in IA's, Stoppages and reloads.

EDIT

Just got back to the shop to take pics. I'm not happy with the plating on the mag releases so they'll have to be redone. Unfortunately this will result in another delay in getting these out.

The carriers will be tabbed, I assume?

No.

We will continue to offer tabbing as a "service", but that is extra.

There is a patent on tabbed carriers currently held. Anyone offering to produce or sell carriers pre-tabbed could find some issues with that. However, you can not patent a gunsmithing service such as adding a tab, which is why we have always offered that service in-house.

I strongly believe against trademark, copyright infringement, copying other peoples products or ripping off designs (something that others in our industry have less issues with [not all]). These carriers are made from modified milsurp carriers, not new machined pieces that we could have machined in a 'tab-like' piece to address some 'gremlin' issues. As such, tabs are not currently installed.

We do a lot of tabbing to users carriers, and I understand that somepeople for whatever reason want the work done and I will help to provide that service... just not at the expense of our integrity or product.

would you also be open to the service of putting the charging handles on customer supplied carriers. I am waiting for Sean to finish my rifle and would like to have all of the finish consistent

Dude...serial? You suck...

...it's seriously all I can do to NOT whip out the old plastic drastic...!

You're hanging the Ric-A-Dam-Doo as your avatar.. That gets you a discount. ;) PM me.

It's an international patent?
Does it matter to you? Does to me. I ship worldwide, and am not in the habit of stealing on a persons product .. especially one whom I've done business with. Again, personal and corporate Integrity.

I could supply a non parkerized carrier that he can finish. Price wouldn't be much less, parking doesn't add much to the price of the work. PM me and we can talk.

sorry for my ignorance, however whats the attraction for the tabbed carries?

Supposedly it makes your rifle work if you have one of the crappy "gremlin" VZs, but that's an infringement.

Since the thing is already patented there would be no harm in the OP sharing the patent number.

Pick one. Or do a search.

Can we move on? I'm not making them available tabbed as a product. End of story. If you'd like them tabbed, we have a gunsmithing service that provides that after the fact.

There are many theories as to the cause of the "gremlin". Personally mine is it's the shooter. I have had 4 different VZ's all different models and have never had a gremlin, nor have any of the people I shoot with. There are a few remedies as well; one involves no modification to the carrier, others do require modification, others yet say to add/remove sear material, modifying the trigger group, etc, etc. . None of my rifles have ever been tabbed and I have shot 10's of thousands of rnds through VZ's. One thing is for sure, tabbing your carrier will fix the problem. IMO it's the final solution and there are likely other issues at root, but it is a cheap/easy solution. I personally believe that with proper shooting techniques you will have no problems and that's a free upgrade.

If these carriers interest you, I'd be happy to provide one. They're not new construction, they're remanufactured surplus carriers. They're not seamless in design, the handles have welds at the base. As such are priced to reflect that. If you want an off the shelf product CSS has a lightening bolt for $200+. What they are though, is a sturdy, to spec product that will assist people that shoot & use their VZ's in competition and sport.

Again.. what they are not though is a newly machined tabbed bolt carrier. We will tab any USERS personal carrier if you require it.

Lets keep this on topic..

Would you mind sharing with us what the proper shooting techniques are, if it's not too much to ask?

I do own quite a few guns, including other battle rifles, that I regularly shoot and have been shooting for years. I use pretty much the same trigger pulling technique with all of them, but the Gremlin happens only with my CZ-858-2 (although I did have my Garand double on me once). With my CZ, if I jerk the trigger every time, it works reliably. If I squeeze the trigger the proper way, the way I was taught how to years ago, the Gremlin shows its ugly head from time to time. And that is even when using the replacement carrier and disconnecter provided by the dealer I bought it from, to correct the Gremlin it originally came with.

Now, I could jerk the trigger every time and that would solve that problem, but accuracy will definitely go to hell if I did.

I just watched a video on shooting technique. Where it was suggested for precision shooting after the slack is taken out the trigger should be slowly pulled to the rear over a second or two while focusing on maintaining front sight placement.
Mind you the CZ doesn't have any slack in the trigger, but if I use this technique my CZ will fail to keep the striker cocked almost everytime.

If you want to have a discussion on technique or anything else, how about taking it out of here. If you're not interested in purchasing this product, we can keep it on topic to those that do.

Thanks.

Damn, those turned out great!

I'd like a left hand carrier but I don't want to pay for it*.

*I have a new strategy of asking for free stuff. Lets see how it works.

Sorry but I don't agree. It is proper trigger technique that causes the problem. Those that depress the trigger and keep it depressed through the firing sequence (follow through) will have the gremlin. Look at this video.

It's improper shooting technique, as in resetting the trigger immediately after firing, before the rifle has even finished completely cycling the action, that results in no problems. This trigger technique is fine for most users, but it's not proper, as it can impart movement to the rifle before the round leaves the muzzle. It's my opinion that many 858's etc in this country have the gremlin it's just the shooter that manifests it.

To confirm this I tried shooting my buddies rifle which he has had zero issues with and I got the gremlin within three rounds.

Good job on the product! Looks good.
