Just want to hear people's thoughts on the new production Winchester model 70s.

Currently eyeing a model 70 featherweight, but haven't heard too much about their quality.

I have owned about 12 different 70's over the years. 3 x pre64,
6 post-64 pushfeeds, 1 New Haven Classic CRF, an FN made and and currently have a Portugal assembled. The new ones are just slick as lightning. The best yet. Superior value IMHO. My hands down favorite hunting gun.

This is a refreshing consensus of opinion. Most of us are conditioned to tolerating new factory models that are shadows of their reputation.

If you consider 1964 to be the absolute ebb in quality for Winchester rifles, I think they are one of the few gun companies that just kept improving quality. 56 years of upping their game. Not many gun companies left that are putting out their best historical products today.

I'm ready to part with some cash for a new Model 70. The pre 64's are nice but a tad too much for a used rifle imho.
