I purchased 800rds of the stuff from the SFRC. Its listed there as Non-corrosive. I fired about 30 rounds through two SVT rifles and where ever the gas touched they frosted up two weeks after with a fair bit of rust. I contacted the SFRC and told them and they simply told me it is new production non corrosive. Even when I sent videos of the guns shooting that ammo, along with the guns rusted i received no reply. I even left a review on the ammo for being actually corrosive and it appears to have been blocked. I spoke to a few other people saying the same thing. The white box stuff is corrosive. That might be well known but I figured I'd atleast mention it before someone else does what I did.

Ya I've been under the impression it's hit and miss with the White box. Some say they have no issues others say it's as corrosive as surplus. When it comes to ammunition I just assume all Chinese made ammunition is corrosive.

Yeah I should have tested it first I geuss. Wasn't really thinking and trusted the business. From the way it rusted its no better than surplus.

Some people suggest that all 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R from China be treated as corrosive and there is suspicion that China might mix the odd corrosive primer they have laying around into their batches. Some importers have had non-corrosive in those calibers from China with suspicious real world rust issues despite China’s claims of otherwise ... this has happened before. The white box stuff I’ve always heard as non-corrosive, but ..... can’t always trust China.

There is a nail test to check if a primer is corrosive ... you can find threads on here on how to do that, but there have been claims of corrosive and non-corrosive being mixed in the same batches of some imports (not speaking of the white boxes).

Most people recommend treating all Chinese 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R as corrosive despite any claims otherwise.

It's a good part the company trying to hide the fact to sell the ammo too. Like I said I tryed to tell them to no avail. I tryed to leave a review and that's blocked. It's not right to sell ammunition and flat out lie to customers when you know full well it is not non corrosive.

It was probably repackaged surplus Chinese 54r that came in white boxes of 20. I bought it as well thinking it was Czech but looking closer it was Chinese ammo repackaged in Czech Republic. Definitely corrosive.

I treat all surplus as corrosive, no matter where it comes from. We learned hard lessons back when the internet was still a dream. Disappointing to find a rifle rusted up, but that’s life, I guess.

Pretty sleazy of sfrc to ignore this.
Even $hittier that your svt has rust now because of this, they are not a cheap rifle anymore
I never ever bought any of that white box Chinese stuff as I never did trust it
Best non corrosive surplus is Barnaul

Two svts. And im not talking about Surplus ammo. You can see it listed as New production, Non corrosive. They are blocking the reviews so people buy it thinking it is Non corrosive. Was it repackaged, I dont know? But its extremely poor business and customer service to sling ammunition you know will damage guns as new NC. I have new production norc 5.56 with no issues. Given I live in another Provence I can't really take it back and they are choosing to ignore customers. Ive talked to quite a few people who said they stopped buying from the sfrc due to poor service. Just as a test I fired 10 rounds through a mosin yesterday and I can see the bore rusting allready.

my cure for corrosive ammo is to pull the round apart and reload it into a boxer primed brass. I pulled a bunch of 54r silver tip and reloaded it into 303 brit.

I used the new white box...And all the stuff I bought WAS %100 corrosive.
I paid extra so I wouldn't have to take the gun apart every time after shooting !
Ya ..pissed & disappointed.

I bought a case of "supposidly" non corrosive 7.62x39 about 20 years ago. Great ammo, but I always clean the gun after use, back when I could use it before the fagg0ut turdo came along. I also have a case of 1952 7.62x25 and some surplus 7.62x54. I treat all as corrosive. Corrosive doesn't mean a row of beans as long as you clean your gun after use. Do you think the Soldiers back in the day spent their time cleaning their guns?
