New prohib classification 12.9 Get it while you can!!!

Real basic

- All Non Restricted Transfers will have to be approved. Have to call in to get a reference number, provide both pals (almost a registry)
- All new firearm sales would be registered with owner and serial number
- Automatic ATTs for restricted will be removed except for shooting ranges. All others need STATTs
- Prohibiting CZ858 and Swiss arms with no compensation.
- RCMP has full decisions over firearms. They can move anything to higher classes and the government cannot stop it.
- The Government can also move guns up in classes but not down.
- Mysterious 12(9) prohib section. No one has said what this is for its very cloudy. Some thing its a new class and some thing is just a rule but it appears to be its just a black hole that firearms can get put into.
- Background checks will now be lifetime. Had a run in when you were in high school and want a pal 30 years later. Could be denied.
- Mental health checks become lifetime. Suffered anxiety when you were 16. Could be denied when you 60
- Feeling down. Much less incentive to go and seek help. Seeking help would be a black mark on your application and renewal for life.

So you better get yourself any new prohib classification you can. Because theyll have the power to bump stuff up in classification..... or you can water your lawn with oil...Id rather take mine to the range.

The new prohibitions aren't anything like the old prohibitions. The old prohibitions created broad classes (converted autos, full autos, short handguns, or a specific list of firearms). Bill C-71 will set it up so they can create new 12.x groups, but they'll do it for individual firearms. They're already doing the CZ858 and Swiss Arms individually in 2 separate classes (look it up if you want the exact number), so if you buy a CZ858, you won't be able to get a Swiss after this thing passes. If you have a Swiss, you won't be able to then buy a CZ858. If you own both, you will get both classes (so yippee, you'll be able to buy more of what you already have, but nothing from any of the other new classes unless you've already owned one).

The worst thing to do is to eagerly seek out the new classes which always lead to confiscation/destruction. The best thing that could happen is every person that paid good money to legally purchase these firearms says GFY and doesn't participate in their idiotic games. As a community, we would then need to also step up to support anyone they decide to make an example of.

Realistically, that isn't too likely to happen.

Our next best option then is to ride it out until 2019, while working hard before and on election day to get these clowns replaced. They are obviously not fit to govern.

X3 on this advice

Oh man lol like those poor sobs that bought 858s at $1500 when c71 was tabled cause they thought they would get a blanket prohib license and buy that AK they always wanted .. LOL !!!!

Can't see why anyone would be scrambling and buying firearms just to get into the new prohib class. It will kill the value of your firearm, open you up to it eventually becoming a safe queen then confiscation ultimately. Nothing good will come from buying into 12-9 cat.

I cant believe people aren't scrambling to get they're hands on a cz 858 or swiss arms. If you dont get one before June 30 you wont be grandfathered and have the new 12.9 prohib classification. Then what are you going to do when they decide to add Ar's or bullpups or whatever to the 12.9 classification. Oh sorry you dont have 12.9 sorry were going to have to take that! Maybe Im just being paranoid but im not taking any chances. I missed out on 12.5 last time. Any thoughts?

Bizarre post for a bizarre forum

Crazy how many people on here seem totally okay running head first into getting a prohibited class license...no thanks. Would not comply.

I want nothing to do with 12.9 or whatever class they come up with. We need to find a way to stop c-71 completely.
I think that anything they have said is just stage 1 of their plan and within a year or two they will stop giving ATT's for the new class and all those rifles will become worthless paperweights.
Ask the guys with the converted auto's licence (can't remember the class), the guys I know who were grandfathered now have some expensive paperweights that are very hard to sell and that they can never legally shoot again.

C-71 is to F us not to give us something good. Everything about it is a negative to a responsible law abiding firearms owner.
You're a fool if you think this is a good thing.

Yup we are still trying to stop C-68.

I should also add that there is no way I want anything to do with a $1400 858 which is no different than my T-81 in that it's a $700 fancy SKS and nothing more so buying one so I can be 12.9 and buy more overpriced junk does not appeal to me.
Similar story with the Swiss Arms. I owned a Classic Green, an HK SL8, my ACR and my AR180B-2 all at the same time, I sold the SA because even though it was a nice rifle it didn't do anything my ACR or SL8 didn't do for less money, it was also the least accurate of the three. I then sold my SL8 because even though it was just as accurate as my ACR it was limited to 223 and my ACR is multi-cal and I used some of the money from selling those to build a 300BLK conversion for my ACR. The 180 is still in the collection as well, it shoots as reliably and accurately as the SA but cost about half and weighs significantly less.

12.whatever classes are to screw us out of our toys not make anything better or safer. By the time most realize this, C-71 will be in the system and they'll be working on the next bill designed to F us.
Wake up and fight this, there is nothing good about it.

Whenever you have to ask for permission to do something that implies that permission can be taken away eventually. They alway start out with everybody has permission to only a few people and then finally nobody.
Guns are the most durable of products and last a long time so the authorities bank on the fact you will get used to asking May I, until the time comes when is No for everyone.

Having a prohibited class is nothing to be proud of.
