Get both!! Here is my dog Chip with his "big brother" Dax 5 years ago, though Dax lives with my daughter ( he is very attached to her) they grew up together.

You didn't think it would stay small and cuddly did you.
Mine was a 100lb lap dog, or thought he should be. I miss that pup a lot.

congrats on the little guy/girl! I'm in the same boat, this little guy followed me home a few weeks ago. A few things I've learnt so far is: leashes don't last forever, buy the jumbo pack of bounty, a full night's sleep is a thing of the past (they will wake you up to pee and go back to sleep after but you wont be able to), puppy teeth are surprisingly efficient at drawing blood, and just when you don't think they need to pee they prove you wrong.
