New purchase, where to go?

Looking for a beginner/starter muzzleloader for a gift.

Does one get a complete kit?A basic unit with no accessories?

Where to purchase? The big name retailers or do we have sponsors with available product?

I lucked out on the EE and got a CVA Kentucky .45 cal. rifle kit new in the box for $175.00 shipped. It took a couple of weeks to finish it but it was time well spent. The ram rod that came with it is too short to run cleaning patches but is OK for loading.
Try a WTB on the EE someone might let one go for a good price.
Another thing to think about is availability of supplies ie: black powder,balls,powder flask,lube,patches etc. etc.

Ellwood Epps always has a lot of muzzle loaders. Antique/new/used.

Cabelas has 4 pages of muzzle loaders in their Fall catalog. www.cabelas.ca

Expensive but good: www.clarkindustries.on.ca

Depends what you are lookin for, flint ? Percussion ? Hawken style ? Military musket ?

Then we could narrow it down

After some searching and alot of comparisons I went with a product from Cabelas, almost impossible to beat their pricing and customer service.

Got a T/C Impact, hopefully it will fit the bill.

Oh well if you would have said thats the kind of thing you were looking for most companies carry those things.

I thought you were looking for a real muzzleloader.
