Just got myself a Savage 111 in 30-06, along with 5 boxes of ammo, for $400 bucks! The guy let me test fire it to make sure it all worked too! It's the older model(Around 5ish years), and it had only been fired 6 times, 7 including the one shot I took to check it out. Considering, all the ammo included are Remington Express Core-Lokt, and Winchester Super-X, I think it was a decent deal. What do you guys think? Also, is there a way too see, or is it marked on the rifle somewhere if it has the accu-trigger set up? I know a few models came with it, but I am not too familiar with them, or if there have been any minor changes over the past few years. I am assuming it is just a base model, it was a package from S.I.R. that came with the soft case and all that jazz. Was smart in getting it? Considering the ammo alone is $40ish bucks a box?

Here's a pic of the rust on the bolt I just found. 5 years of sitting will do that to you. Steel wool should get that out, no?

The accutrigger looks like this

Is -06 ammo really $40.00 per box these days?!? Yikes, glad I reload! It might be cheaper then some of my rifles ammo at $140.00 for factory, but the ol ought six used to be cheap!

Some of it is lol. Hornady is ~$30. I havent bought any for a while now though. I just look when Im in the area

OK, no accutrigger. No biggie lol. Are the rifles upgradable at all, trigger wise I mean? As for accuracy, the round puffed up snow in the general area I aimed it, so it looks to be decently accurate. I'm gonna hit the gravel pits this weekend, and get her sighted in, and blow thru all this ammo :p
I will end up getting what I need to reload in a few weeks, so it's all good. I don't like the idea of dropping 30-40 bucks on ammo, when I have 4 kids to feed hahaha :)
Now, the wife is on her way home from work, and it'll be time to see if I'm in any trouble for spending the cash hahaha

Added a picture of the tiny rust spot on the bolt. What can I use to get rid of it? Just a brush from the cleaning kit, or should I hit it with some super fine steel wool?

OK sweet! Not too worried about it, I didn't think it was too bad at what I assume is a 5lb stock. But who knows, maybe I'll go crazy with it and mod it up a bit for myself :)
