New Python selling over MSRP in the U.S.

People are paying the premium for a low serial number. I'll happily wait for prices to drop, or more likely I'll get a used one. I'm buying it to shoot, not look at.

My thoughts as well.

Remember that about 600k Pythons were manufactured in 50 years of production (1955-2005) before it was discontinued.

With today’s manufacturing process, if there’s demand for the new Python, Colt could make more than that in a matter of 5-6 years.

Unless you get the very firsts units manufactured, they’ll be so much of them available that they’re won’t any collector market for the mass produced ones for years to come. The commemoratives, special editions and limited release will be the one to get and they will quite probably sell for nice chunk of change.

I was pumped up about type 81. Almost pulled trigger thinking they will stop production and the price will get jacked up. NOPE. More kept getting imported

Bought a t81 for $850 used instead of 1200 with tax. Almost left a depsoit for python but it's going to be in production for the next 10yrs for sure. Wait it out of the impulse buyers and scoop one up on EE for $1800

I wouldn’t be surprised to see them sell for $1800-$2000 at dealers within a year if they flood the market.

Looking at GB the used market still bring a slight premium over new production but I see the one OK’s talking about; new production Python 6” barrel, 22 bids ending at 10:30pm eastern time and it’s at $3025 right now! Unfriggin believable

Sometimes it’s not an impulse buy though, it’s waiting patiently for years. I was waiting for a Type 81 since Tactical Imports announced them in 2012 and was on the first batch in 2017. So some people might be like that with the Python. Some people also don’t like used guns (like me with guns that shoot corrosive ammo, no matter how well they say they’ve been cleaned) although this would be more applicable to the T81 than Python.
